I don't think FB will go away..I personally do not except that many requests because there are a lot who just collect them like someone would collect stamps..I actually like to talk to the people who are on my list..
I agree Some people have like 500 or 4000 'friends' on that social network site NOBADY has that many FRIENDS!
I've noticed that...I found some (actual real life) old friends on there and sent friend requests and I got no-where zero response)and I've also met people who were commenting on the same thing I was and we chatted, and then tried to friend them and I never get a response of any kind. I think they need to adapt or go down. I heard that it's considered 'rude' to try and friend a stranger on facebook...that sounds ridiculous to me.
I totally agree with you ...gees...no way you really have that many real friends...I NEVER get friend requests on facebook...I think it's a conspiracy...LMAO- jk..(there is something suspicious how you can't really communicate with other people on there)
when i came in this world i didnt even recognized my mother though she knew who was me. but as she hugged me i probably hugged her back. and now we know each other we live together lough together. we are human. everybody stand a chance. you can erase someone but dont have to neglect. thats insulting.
karanroy: you the man who enjoy quality but not quantity just like me and i really appriciate that but sometimes we find diamonds in search of coal.
Using FaceBook as a dating site isn't a very good idea. That's why you have been blocked. Most people don't use FB to find dates and partners, they use it to keep in contact with the people they have already met.

karanroy: Facebook which claims to be a social network will go down soon as it's mainly focus on your friends only whom you know already. if you trying send friend request to someone else they just block you. A true social network always let other connect to someone they don't know so they can share there interests, there thinking, there liking there disliking, there religion, there beliefs, there idea's, there way of thinking and living and more...
Facebook is indirectly causing hate between people.
Re: facebook. If someone you don't know sends you a friend request it is up to you whether you accept or not and if you decide not to, facebook state this person will not be able to contact you again. Someone may send out friend requests because they want to build up a fan following e.g. if they are a photographer or artist. Facebook has tightened up friend requesting because of the number of fake profiles sending friend requests trying to hack into users accounts and personal information and yes, some people will accept anyone for different reasons. I think users privacy settings are up to them but if someone has access to your friend list or your friend list is on public viewing, there are risks this will be abused as some people are using friends details to distribute lists of people's personal information. Any social networking site carries these risks.

i understand that but do facebook understands what socialising means ? when we go to a club we do meet our friends and some strangers as well but sometimes we dont remember them but they do and as they try to get in contact once or twise facebook straightway block them even for sending messages. what harm a private message can do to anyone ?

yes, I get where you are coming from. Given that there is no longer a fb help centre that can actually deal with these issues at present as it was disbanded (unless you know) it remains a problem I agree.

I don't add people to Facebook unless I know them. A couple of years ago, I did add about 5 people that I had never met but met them when we were volunteering on the same project. I don't have Facebook to add a bunch of people that I don't know. I figure I can meet people in the real world and if they have Facebook then it's one additional way for us to keep in touch...like using email.

karanroy: exactly. it's kind of reunion not socialising
You misunderstand the word Socializing.
so·cial·ize 1.to make social; make fit for life in companionship with others. 2.to make socialistic; establish or regulate according to the theories of socialism. 3.Education . to treat as a group activity: to socialize
A companion is someone you KNOW, not someone you WANT to meet.
Also, when we socialize, we gather with others, we unite or reunite, hence 'reunion'.

I have had people that I don't know send me friend requests. I don't accept them. I'm not on Facebook to meet people that I don't know. I may talk to people in some of the groups discussions but I don't add them as a friend and I may not add them as a friend. Some people may use Facebook as a way to meet people that they don't know, but for me, it would be a bit weird. Why would I want share my personal life with people I don't know or haven't met? On sites like this, you can share things about yourself and still keep a lot of things personal. Of course, I don't post a lot about myself on Facebook either...since the people already know me. It's just up to the indviduals using Facebook.
Nikogas: No, Facebook "is" a social network, and they make a lot of money doing it as well, over 4 billion dollars last year 2011. In meeting new friends which I am the oposite, I have very few friends and family and mine is very private. But for those that wish to get 100's of friends,,and they so it!! You need to join other things on the facebook. If you want a 100 plus friends go play farmville, or texas holdem...there are so many on there to choose from and they all eat up loadds of time or help pass the time away if you are sick or lonely....everyone has a different reason for being there, or not being there. I just deleted 75 people in the last few days, like I said everyone sets their own account the way they want it. some with open doors and some with doors you wish were closed. Good Luck. By the way that number of revenue is double from last year and is mainly advertising. Chief Executive and co-creator Mark Zuckerberg born in 1984 at age 27 is worth 17 billion as of 2011. I think Facebook is alive and well. one last note, There are so many "friend finders" on facebook you are the first that I ever heard of that could not get new friends. Good Luck.
This is so true. This is why I only add people that I know. For me, it's an easy way to see what my friends and family are up to. It's funny because about 90% to 95% of the people I have added to Facebook contacted me. If someone is really hard up for friends then you are correct about playing the games.

Personal disclosure: I choose not to be on facebook. I don't tweet either.
No company is infallable. What happened to the mega giants like AT&T, IBM, the big 3 auto makers, or even Myspace?
Facebook will fade one day and be replaced by something new and improved. Then that company will be replaced....
I think the technology will change that people 100 years from now will laugh at us for networking on sites such as Facebook. There might be a revolution towards introspect and privacy where we don't want any new friend's requests from total strangers, or don't want to meet up with people in high school who snubbed you everyday.
Also as each new generation comes up from the ranks, their world is 1000 times much smaller than our world was when some of us old-timers were young pups. Facebook, myfriends, CS, turning on a computer were so novel to us we ate up everything and anything new and hip. Kids today might think Facebook is pretty boring or passe' and are more interested in actually being away from their computer and doing something else.
