Process of elimination I'd guess.
Sight is the most 'technical' of the senses. The brain, has to take in everything we see, arrange it into the collage we see, and then guide the rest of us to fit into it.
Taste is actually only memory. We can't taste that much, but only know what it tastes like, because we remember what it should taste like. Hence why a meal sometimes tastes different when it's cooked by another chef. We're 'confused' as it doesn't taste like how we remembered it.
Same as with smell.
Touch, is really a simple sense. It's only down to nerve endings feeling the pressures.
Hearing is really just vibrations on hairs, so will happen forever. Only difference being, the brain won't register it as it's 'powered down'.
Or something like that, anyway
