I never heard of it before either. But I just read up on it.

It's NOT a real religious practice!

It is a protest against teaching "Intelligent Design" along side "Evolution" in schools.

The idea behind the protest is really quite simple.

Evolution is a SCIENCE with loads of evidence and intelligent research behind it.

Intelligent Design is pure FAITH and has no evidence to support whatsoever.

Therefore, if the schools are going to teach Intelligent Design alongside evolution then why not also teach a religion called the "The Flying Spaghetti Monster" alongside those! In other words, if we're going to make things up without any evidence why stop with any particular whim?

It's just making a point. A valid point as far as I'm concerned.

In other words, if "Intelligent Design" can be taught in schoools then why not "The Flying Spaghetti Monster"? There's just as much evidence for both! (i.e NONE!)

It comes across to me as a pun on the evolution/crationism/intelligent design battle.

I sure hope its a joke otherwise there is one more silly relegion to fight over in the forums.

Abra is right. I've heard the term used many times. I also had the same reaction the first time I ever heard it.

This was my daughter a way long time ago.

but yeah... grandkids are something.

I have no problem admitting this...

When my 2 year old grandson saw me the other night he squirmed out of my daughters arms and came a runnin gave me a huge hug and wispered Gampa in my ear like I was the specialist person in the whole world... and ok dudes I cried. First time he ever called me that.
