I'm not a banker. I just don't understand why people pay for something that is basically free.

Well I don't think it's really free because people have to pay for the lines at the ISP and the staff there.

Sure. But the infrastructure costs a fortune. Summer jobs in UNI I used to contract for NTL/UPC, and we charged them for installing fibre-optic trunk lines. They're expensive at 2,000m a go. ;)

Fair enough but all ISP's can provide the same service for a lot less than they charge people. And they get loads back from advertising.

Phoenix: I don't care how secure you think your network is. I'll tell you iyt even with a password .I'll crack it. Hide your Essid (network name) I'll find it very easily.

you can crack passwords too..how do you do that just pure guessing or is there some special technique to itlaugh

Roll back to XP! Ubuntu is easily installed and will partition the drive for you. I did it, tried it for a while but found it a lot of work for the day to day stuff. Downloading and running things like flash player and adobe can take a bit of learning and many wrong turns along the way...

stanley8m: Thanks Pheonix,,

What you could do is download this

Then partition your HHD and install ubuntu onto the new partion.

It's free and there are videos included to explain how it works, there is also a demo you can run until you get the hang of splitting a HDD.

perfect9: Great was following all that ,then got to the bit,if you get pissed off and you lost me.....

Sorry perfect..I meant if you get pissed off trying to do something that doesn't work. Probably due to being stressed. If you get pissed off with your PC, simply walk away from it and come back to it later. It's a bit like doing a crossword and being stuck. Just put the paper down and clear your head. A PC (unlike nubiles) will only do what you ask it to do.
