I don't know Glen. Not living here too long and apparently the flooding happened in 2004 but nowhere near the same extent. Sea comes right up to the town and there is a river running parallel to the main street for about 500 yards which caused the problem.
Been out all morning moving stock for people and to see business's and home's ruined in this way is devestating. In saying that people are brilliant and what I have witnessed this morning restores my faith in people somewhat.
Can't get the car out, no power, badly need coffee and more importantly can't find a pub open
If you can include a hot flask of coffee, black with sugar I would greatly appreciate it bud

Vinny Myself and Roger send our best wishes to you, and all the good folks in Cork and indeed all over the Isle, this is terrible news. I have lots of friends in Cork this has happened before though some years back I remember '90 Hope the damage was not too much.
snowlynx: Serious Vinny? Sorry I didn't realise it was that serious or I wouldn't have been flippant about it. Sounds bad.
your comments are disgraceful theres nothing funny about homes+business`s destroyed, 2 elderly people were trapped in a house this morning is that funny to you too

a bit of water never did any harm...they should just turn up the heat to dry out their houses..no harm done and I'm sure those old people have been in a swimming pool before..nobody kicked up a fuss over that and they were all wet

The deluge last night was unreal.
