Know what you mean happened to me once, I had no idea, he told me on the second date, I told him he had no right to ask me out in his position, and walked away. To be honest I thought I would pick up on it if someone was not single, but I had no idea.

A few good ways of finding out if a guy is attached:
Add him on facebook and check his status says single
Ring his number and not a specified time if he never answers your calls but always rings back and is quick with his calls he is more than likely attached.
Watch the times he comes online if he works in an office and he only comes online while in the office thats odd everyone has a computer at home.
If you are mid conversation and he goes offline all of a sudden and does this regulary its a bit suspect.
Ask him outright is he single you would be amazed at how many guys dont tell you they are attached unless you ask!
