Not necessarily. If they have enough 'service' done they can retire early. My Mam and Dad (both teachers) retired at 56 and 60 respectively.

A few years ago techers, gardai etc could take early retirement in order to get full pension and not be taxed or something along those lines

i fear with country the way it is 75 will be the new retirement age

There is also gender discrimination in the UK with regard to the State Pension. Women get the pension at 60 but men must wait until they are 65. This gives the average man 11 years and women 21 years of pension until they die. This has been the case for 62 years. Thankfully the pension age will be equal in 2020. Men are living longer and women are dying younger thanks to their liberated lifestyles so in another decade a woman can look forward to about the same amount of retirement time as a man. Yay for equality! But what about the gender discrimination taking place today? Isn't everyone awfully quiet about it? It's almost like it doesn't count if it's men who are the 'victims'.
Retirement age is been increased to 68 by 2028, we have an ageing population so therefore it is financially necessary to increase the retirement age.
It's no big deal working until 68.

Exactly especially with improvements in healthcare and people living well into their 80's.
In 50 years time I actually could see 75 been a normal retirement age.

It will definately be over 70 anyway I would imagine.
