Sarah32: I have a cousin who is a guard. on a night out and if she gets talking to strangers she says she works in a bank, office etc. The reason for this is she says that people treat her different if she says she is a garda. At first i thought what she was doing was just lying to peoples faces for no reason until i saw it first hand. We would be chatting away to a group of lads and once she said she was a garda all changed, they might walk away or just become really stand offish. This is a horrible way to live. When shes off duty she is still getting looked down on and thought of as the enemy.
A lot of guards are fine, good and bad in every organisation,it seems to be deeply rooted in culture and cool to hate them, a few are on power trips but that could be said for any people in positions of power,They have to do lots of nasty stuff as well but thats what they join for and they know what they are getting into and trained for.

whitepaws: Quite often i come across a checkpoint by the Cops and begrudginly i comply with showing a licence or what ever...I drive off mumbling about being delayed.
recently i was awarded 2 points for doing 60kmh in a 50kmh zone and again i look at the cops grudgingly..

walking around international airports i look at armed men/women but see a uniform not a person and think a good slap would disarm them and then i could really light the place up Is there really a need for this.

But when your out and meet these people, their normally decent people just doing a thankless task...

So do you see the Person or the Uniform
