Mariannette: have you seen that cases of vitamin D deficiency are on the increase do to the lack of time children are spending outside coupled with the high factor of sun-screen.
I dont mean, send them out til they come back red raw.....but out for a wee while every day does no harm.

There were calls in the US for babies who were breast fed to be given vitamin D shots as there had been cases were the parents did not expose the kids to sunlight at all & they were becoming ill (is it rickets) as formula milk has Vit D in it.

It's funny to see parents protecting their children from the sun when we have been living under it for millions of years. Why? Becuase some doctors say it causes skin cancer. I also see some doctors say it prevents skin cancer and a whole range of diseases. I wonder which group is correct. The sunscreen racket must be happy with the 'fear-the-sun' group. Then there are doctors who have worries about the sunscreen causing cancer....

Most of the "amazing" drugs the big pharmaceutical companies heavily incorporate vitamin therapies. In the 70's and 80's, laetrile(vitamin B17) was one of the therapies that alternative medicine argued was a cure for cancer. This was shot down but some articles on it are still pretty impressive. Some doctors are looking at cancer being caused by vitamin deficiency now. This wouldn't be too hard to believe. Most cases of people with cancer show that they are heavily deficient in the D vitamins. Deficiency in vitamin C causes scurvy and ricketts is caused in part by vitamin d deficiency.
There is a race of people, the Hunza, do not contract cancer once they adhere to their native diets. These diets include the seeds of Apricots, etc which they eat, and which contain Laetrile.
A balanced diet which includes all these would point at being, at the very least, a good prevention of cancer. But why are we not told this? Why do the FDA and IMB ridicule these alternative remedies and practitioners as "quacks"? Is it surprising that the "patented" drugs and their companies are the paymasters of the FDA and the IMB, etc? Why are many of the upcoming drugs that these companies have so heavily incorporating vitamins while for years they have ridiculed these suggestions?
