Social Drug Taking -Vs- Social Drinking.. (9)

Had this conversation with a few people a while ago..

Apart from the legality of the two...is there much of a difference in the person going out for a couple of pints on the weekend as opposed to a person having a few spliffs the weekend??

Both are consuming drugs that can be addictive and ruin lives but it's not affecting either their work life or home life...they are not addicted and don't need these drugs but do enjoy them socially..

Would you have a problem dating somebody that has a few spliffs the weekend?? surely it's the same as just having a few beers and probably safer...of course there's the whole illegal argument but it's not like you're out in the streets smoking it in a bush, you're doing so in your own home or someone else's home...

Everything in moderation is the way i'd look at it conversing

You make some very good points there.....

Personally, I never got into joints, never appealed to me, but I don't have a problem with anyone else smoking it, and I hear it does have it's benefits wink

It could be argued that drink is more dangerous than hash. I personally think drink is more dangerous than most illegal drugs except for heroin, crack and highly addictive drugs like that. But we think its fine if someone is a good oul drinker but if he has a joint now and then well he is a druggie.doh

Yeah, a few drinks or the odd joint is no harm in moderation. Some people will always go overboard and and become addicted. A good barman will refuse to serve a drinker who has had enough.

I think we should do the same with obese people who waddle into chippers, the staff should politely refuse to serve them.

"look love, I think you have had enough burgers, come back when you can fit through the door, without turning sideways."grin

All drugs are addictive. Heroin, coke, marijuana (hash) in their pure form are non addictive (medical/scientific fact).

The problem occurs when they are cut several times to increase profits.

Right now I'm phoning my rasta for 1/2 oz of good bud..

What about coffee, tea etc.. (mc good post/points)
