tomcatwarne: I don't wish any man harm in his intensive care situation. Let him throw the first stone who is guiltless.

thumbs up so true.

I am not a Bush (either one) fan, but some of these comments are heartless.

About your heartless George H.W. Bush and his friend Saddam Hussein:

"U.S. government authorized the sale of dual use chemicals and biological material to Iraq
A review of thousands of declassified government documents and interviews with former U.S. policymakers shows that U.S. provided intelligence and logistical support, which played a role in arming Iraq in its war with Iran. Under the Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush administrations, the U.S. authorized the sale to Iraq of numerous dual use items that had both military and civilian applications, including chemicals which can be used in manufacturing of pesticides or chemical weapons and live viruses and bacteria, such as anthrax and bubonic plague used in medicine and the manufacture of vaccines or weaponized for use in biological weapons.
A report of the U.S. Senate's Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs concluded that the U.S. under the successive presidential administrations sold materials including anthrax, and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992. The chairman of the Senate committee, Don Riegle, said: "The executive branch of our government approved 771 different export licenses for sale of dual-use technology to Iraq. I think its a devastating record." According to several former officials, the State and Commerce departments promoted trade in such items as a way to boost U.S. exports and acquire political leverage over Hussein.
Relations between the U.S. and Iraq were strained by the Iran-Contra affair."

TTom50: We are seeing CS humanity at it finest hour in this thread, Oobey. That has got to make you proud. That you could not make any comment to the former President health, spoke volumes to me.

That this was posted just for your liberal European mental muchin's pleasure.

So am giving them something to enjoy. I hope you don't mind. Just me when I see defensiveless aged man that is likely on his death bed being assaulted by the big brave hearted liberal Europeans. It just gets under my skin some.

Consider this. Had President Bush senior gone to Baghdad and taken Sadam Hussien down during the first war. President Obama would not be in office today. He would not have had the political position to say 'wrong war at wrong time'. It would have been all over with by his 2008 Presidential run. Pretty good chance he would have lost without the Iraq issue. GWB would not have had to gone to Baghdad. That my friends, was about the only mistake that President Bush senior made.

But he felt mercy, when he saw the highway of death and stopped it. Unlike the European vultures in this thread, he knew what mercy was about. He should have just continued on to Baghdad.......The world would not have needed the most liberal man as President of the United States.

How goes that Syrian problem solving, Oobey? Only 44,000 dead there now. Assad seems to be using poison gas on his people (ala Sadam Hussien)....and the most liberal President in American history that drew a line in the Syrian sand seems to have egg on his face. These big hearted Europeans are sitting there wondering what will come in Syria next. Will it be haven for alQeada or will it go Democratic.

If you are not going to back it, Oobey. Don't say it. Both Bush's backed up what they said.......and the world hates them for doing so.
But that is what leadership is. Anyone that respects President Obama on his Syrian position, well..he can say....he is a nice and very likeable man.

President Obama gave gave up the intiative in the region with the Iraq withdrawal. So did Europe. Europe and Russia supplied Sadam with more weapons that everything the US sold him. By at least 10 times. Just like they supplied Assad in Syria. Every Iraqi tank, Personal carrier, (all 2000 of them) jest and helo (several 100) came from Russia or Europe. Russia and Iran have it now....so they kick dust at the US for selling Sadam some 500 bombs for Iran. Big deal. Those bombs were never used to overrun little Kuwait. They were used on Iran. But those Russian tanks,European aircraft and gunships sure were used on little old Kuwait.

So the liberal politician of America and Europe have got the future generations of both Americans and Europeans into a bit of a mess.....because Syria is historically the cross road of the region.

It wasn't George H. Bush's idea not to keep going into Baghdad. He was told by General Schwarkopf that he was only in that conflict to free the people of Kuwait that he was not there to assainate Hussein. And Colin Powell, the Joints Chief, was part of that decision that Schwarkopf should turn around and come back. I followed that conflict very well as I had four penpals in different branches of the military that I wrote hand written letters to everyday. General Schwarkopf was and always will be my hero. So don't go blaming Pres. H. Bush that we didn't finish off Hussein when we were within a few miles of Iraq.

He'll have a big crowd waiting for him at his next destination.
They'll give him the sort of warm welcome he deserves.
