How to get you one?
It's simple, go on a polar expedition to the South-pole and get you one, flights from Capetown weekly.
Practical penguin.
Be prepared to switch off you gas central heating, in summer have air-conditioning running at 100% 24/7, need bathtub with loads of cold water and a large freezer for making ice and storing fish.
Shower won't work. Get some warm clothing and gloves, snow boots are great too. Make sure you have no girl/boy friend, wife/husband etc. they wont love you as much as your penguin, you can try to explain but believe me it will not be understood.
Feeding your penguin.
Coastal living is advised here, cut yourself a deal with the local fishermen because you will need fish, fish and fish.
Training your penguin.
You can train them, mine get me beers from the fridge, vodka on ice works as well especially the ice. Cooking can be ok as well, if you like Sushi it will be a treat.
Entertaining your penguin.
Penguins love bowling and beer, get 10 penguins, line them up and off you go; your own penguin 10 pin bowling set and mobile. If they want to go to the pub make sure you have some cash on you, they drink like fish.
Penguins and media.
Happy feet is a load off bull, penguins do not dance! I advice as research National Geographic and Discovery Channel.
They can do the slide but you need a slab of solid polar ice for that, can be done but not very practical.

Let me reccomend this variant.
Ingredients:
Penguin meat, Butter, Beef suet, Dried onions, Flour, Gravy granules, Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
Season the penguin meat well with salt and pepper and dip each piece in melted butter. Roll in flour and fry in beef suet to seal the meat, turning once. When each side is crisp, place in baking tray and pour over the fat from the frying pan. Sprinkle with dried onion and cook in the oven on medium heat until tender. For the gravy – stir a teaspoon of flour into the cooking fat then add a spoon-full of gravy granules and sufficient water or stock to thicken.
