howdy peeps, its been awhile wave

so how well do you think you know your family and friends?? reason i'm asking, i had a serious knockout just over a month ago healthwise which resulted in me having to undergo 8 hours of emergency surgery, a few days in I.C.U. and a few weeks in hospital and i will need more surgery in time to come, so basicly the next 12 months or so i am sidelined and out of action sigh

anyways it was a shock and some real surprises as to find who my real friends were and who were not so real and the same applied to my family, the ppl i thought would be there for me left me down badly and ppl i wasn't expecting anything from upped the stakes and went out of their way big time to look after me and my interests, like it was a real eye opener, some ppl i thought i knew well, it turned out i didn't know them at all conversing

i guess its true what they say, you never know until you're down and out when you find out who your real friends and family are, have a look at yours and see who you think you can count on and who not, just don't take anyone for granted to be there for you as they will be the one's that will surprise and shock you the most wow

I am really sorry to hear that you have been through the mill.
I hope you do well and get back to a level you can be happy with.

Very true words you have spoken there, and unfortunately sometimes it does take a crisis to see who actually cares about you......but it is a good thing to know!

teddybear for your speedy recovery

I know what you mean I too had an accident before Christmas and I found that the people who were there for me weren't necessarily the ones who always needed me for something when I was well!! I hope you are well soonbouquet

Sorry to here you that, hope you have a speedy recovery.

I can totally relate to your post, in the friends part anyway. I wouldnt have believed it if someone had told me how a couple of my friends would react during my recent health problems, really disappointing and upsetting if I am honest.

My family on the other hand were nothing short of brilliant.

Sweet JeBus, Baldy, sounds very serious, hope that everything works out for you.

As for family, I know who will be there if I really need them, the others I just am related too by chance.

There are plenty who will say they are your friends and disappear as soon as you mention anything even remotely troubling, they are not real friends merely acquaintances.

On a side note: That is one of the things I hate about Facebook, everyone has to be your friend, when all they are is an acquaintance (if even that.)

I understand completely what you mean.
My son was in hospital for 6 weeks when he was almost 2 and i slept on a chair by his bed for 39 of those 42 days. The other 3 days the nurses insisted i go home and get some rest. If not for the kindness of those both working there and those visiting other children, those 6 wks would have been a hundred times harder.

thx for your well wishes, i have a long ways to go but i will get there thumbs up

in reply to some comments, yes its not until a crisis moment till you know who your real friends are and sadly i also found some family members that left me down badly, on the other hand there were also some pleasant surprises from some ppl who were just down right amazing throughout my ordeal and still continue to be so today applause

needless to say my xmas card list will look somewhat different this year compaired to last year laugh

Hope you get better soon.!

I have a tight group of friends. We all know each other since we are kids are I know them as well as anyone. Been through ups and downs with them and we are all still friends so I know they are the real deal.

Also have a pretty close immediate family but I have so many cousins that I don't really know half of them. But my immediate family are really close.

I'm a lucky guy!

Sorry to hear you've been through the mill, B. Hope you continue to improve and get better. Don't rush, pace yourself and stay positive.

It's true, it's not until things go wrong that you actually find out who your real friends and supportive family members actually are, who really cares what happens. True friends stick, the fakes fall to the side.
