I'm not trying to be funny here, but if you were a Dub hurling fan/hurling fan, would you not be going to the game instead of watching it in a pub?

Dublin and Hurling never really went together did it. I know they have a decent team at the moment but "football" is the main choice of the Dublin fan. Just like you never hear of Kerry hurlers. Dublin and Kerry are the two hotbeds of "football".

we're all entitled to are own opinions here, football I think is boring, hurling's fast paced and more entertaining (I find anyway). as for Kerry they don't have a hurling team they're all about the football down there, up here we have both.

Lighten up man. Remember humour?
I know Kerry don't have a hurling team, that was my point and the point I was making. I find both boring if I'm honest but "football" less so. Real football is called "Soccer" by you GAA lot. laugh

Kerry actually have a better hurling team than most Irish counties. They Won the Christy Ring Cup last year, making them top of the teams who don't compete for Liam McCarthy. Don't forget it is only four or five years since you could say the words Dublin and hurling in the same sentence without everyone pissing themselves laughing.

scriobhneoir: Actually Association football as a structured game is not much older than Gaelic Football at all. I agree with Jazzhands on this one. Drives me daft when Irish people call soccer football. Nothing I can do about it though.

But it is older. So it is the original football and as you said about someone elses point....My point still stands.grin

Soccer is an acceptable term to differentiate that form of football from domestic codes. As such, it is the official name for the sport in Ireland. End of story.

End of story? Say who? You?laugh

Football is football. Soccer is only a word really used since the 1970's and the first intro of the game to the US. It may be acceptable to you but not to me and I do believe its the FAI not the SAI so there is nothing official about the word Soccer in Ireland.

End of story!laugh

How about Soccerball or Foccer idea

Oh and a Coach has four wheels and seats ,
which is definitely different to something running the Foccer team tip hat
