Kaybee50: What do you mean by the term Brain Failure?
I know the term "Brain Failure" is too harsh, for some people. I understand that. But I like to call "things" by name.
Too me, "brain failure", used in this context, means that when someone uses illogical reasoning to justify "falling in love", either by action, feeling, words, etc. as I dont see how someone can fall in love before knowing a person.
examples:
1. people who are in love with celebrities. They have no idea who that person is, and they are "in love" with "the person"; and they never met.
2.people who are "falling in love" to justify stalking, kidnapping, killing. they are also "in love".
i dont believe someone can love without reason. It is a really not possible. But I do understand how some perceived qualities that attracts someone to that person, even if it is just a movie personage. And to me "brain is not working well".
Yes of course...all relationships begin in projection, or perhaps you could call it an idea. Such and 'idea' like this is a complex. Simply said an idea with a lot of energy that knocks about autonomously in our psychic cellar. Some will project love, in the search of the 'Magical Other' onto anyone who fits their idea of salvation, or will spare us the perilous journey of individuation. The power of a complex cannot be overemphasized.
MADDOG69: Aside from arbitrary and subjective definitions of love, I find when one wants to bring it all back to basics it comes down to how much pain, how much suffering and trials, how much money and how much of oneself one would give to someone else purely in the name of love of that person whether it's online or whatever.
Mad, interesting approach.. that is the reality, and most of the times we forget the basics.
People that like to be approved by someone else. People that like to hear what they want and they get it from their “friends”.
Pep talk.

However, your using the term brain failure might not be the right one under this situation.
Brain failure: broad group of severe mental and behavioral disorders etiologically traceable to brain disease, injury, or toxicosis; psychosis associated with endocrine disorders, drugs, and metabolic or nutritional abnormalities.
JeanKimberley: may I add another thought to this thread on love or the idea of "pre-love" online.
I have found that there are people I have met in person that became instant friends - kindred spirits. and there are people I have communicated on line with and discovered a compatibility that when we met in person, in real life we were friends - of course this has always been about the woman I have met and become friends with this has not happened in finding a male love interest.
However I think the online way to communicate with people can weed out unsuitable sorts and can help open lines of communication with those you feel an interest in - then of course you must meet if there are any feelings to develop.
KNenagh: I think people have different ideas what "love" means.
For some it's a commodity, superficial etc, for other's it's not.
It does astonish me how easy people use the word "love" or friendship. Talking about me, I'm selective, I have a lot of acquintences, but I don't call everyone a friend. Friends and my family are important and I love them, I'm also not talking about "love" straight away when I meet someone - I think that includes knowing someone well and that takes time - for me.
Falling in love, infatuation or falling in lust is something different imo.
KN, sorry I miss your post. I couldn't agree more.
And as a typical man you respond to a situation with reason. BIG MISTAKE! You're talking to a woman about love infront of an audience of women and their male orbiters(which for the purposes of truth are as useless as women). The situation could not possibly be more anti-reason.
The male traits of logic and reason, which are a gift in non-romantically infused situations - building bridges that don't fall down and formulating calculus etc - are a handicap when the opposing force is an alien who doesn't play by the rules of logic. This force is female self-love, from which all absuridites of thought and peculiarites of reason follow. CS forums are basically a theatre of female self-love.

Obstinance, you have my vote in one characteristic. you do stick to your “story”, and follow it all the way... but sometimes we have to "read other books" also... just to have a different view.

very interesting observation...

I just dont believe in love at no sight! Love is a molitov cocktail of pheronomes and chemistry. Love enters first through the eyes. Its a mixture of body language and energy. At least for me.
Meeting someone is real....anything else is wishful thinking and illusion.

interesting... you mention pain but not pleasure suffering but not joy
your description could sound like addiction as well...? so how does one measure all this..if it is love, in love, or being love? when does one stops measuring, and just feel it?
...and i am uncertain of this word, love...(so many definitions)
