In an explanation of reincarnation that would make sense, you would come back where you left off at spiritually. One would not come back as a rock or fish or bird for instance. So yes, the same "sins" you are atoning for in this life, you would have to resolve in the next,,,

We don't just pay the consequences for our own "sins" but others as well, we are all in this together. We also reap the benefits of our and others "good" acts as well. So you are getting that as well in one life to the next.
I think that mankind is gradually learning from it's "sins" and that religions are that "sin" that keeps them unaware and in a state of savagery. I don't think there will be any religion long before the year 4000.
