Canada is a large country so it varies from one part of it to another. Here in Alberta we usually will get only one harvest in a season, with the exception of the Alfalfa crop(Hay). There are 2 harvests of it and in a good year there are sometimes three.
In China they have different varieties of rice, varying in taste and quality, the cheapest and poorest quality has three harvests a year, the average quality/price has two harvests and the best and most expensive can only be harvested once a year, You take your choice and pay the price lol.
It is still strange for me to go to a supermarket here and find huge boxes of loose rice, which you bag yourself, weigh and pay. They do the same with sugar, but wheat/flour is hard to buy in this area as it is not a local crop. My province is famous for tea and rice.
