The Russian Government decided to prosecute 30 Greenpeace activists because they made a peaceful protest defending the environment (in this case the Arctic North). In a completely disproportionate reaction, since the activists not possessed weapons, they detained them and now aim to process them accused of piracy. A crime that foresees a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
Throughout the world there are reactions to demand the Russian Government to release the activists, since his only crime was to defend the planet against the advance of these greedy interested only in getting money regardless destroy what belongs to all who inhabit this planet called Earth.
Join in the protest on behalf of Greenpeace activists. It is for the good of humanity and justice.

Greenpeace activists have the use of oil ,gas and the products that are made from natural resources . All the while telling the rest of us that we should not . This time people have been put at risk in the protest and I hope the Russians keep them safely locked up for years .There is world wide support for protest in favour of the protesters . Even here by the looks .

You don't have gay parades in Russia.

It's just the way things are.

If these two argies decided to go and they got caught, don't act so surprised.

"Activists attempted to climb the 'Prirazlomnaya,' an oil platform operated by Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom platform in Russia's Pechora Sea, a section of the Barents Sea, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013."

Greenpeace might be emboldened for the impunity they have in Western Europe in trespassing on properties contrary to local laws, now they have learned that their antics is not tolerated on Russian property. Media antics and illegal activities are not appreciated by everyone. There are other options in peaceful protest other than invading private property, especially a Russian one. If they tried that on China's state property, the result would have been the same.

I hope they brought plenty of toilet paper as it is going to be a long stint in the Russian prison.

It is ridiculous to accuse them of piracy. First, they were not carrying weapons.
Second, their goal was expressing a protest; far from the goal of pirates who is appropriating what belong to others.
When Russia was part of the powerful Soviet Union they invaded the world with missiles; they had the right to endanger everyone everywhere.
I see how justice works in this world: the most powerful are always right. Not very different from the law of the jungle crying

Article 227 of Russia's penal code defines piracy as "an attack on a ship at sea or on a river, with the aim of seizing someone else's property, using violence or the threat of violence". It can be punished with a jail term of up to 15 years, depending on the gravity of the offence, and a fine of up to 500,000 roubles (£10,000; $15,000).

Articles 101 to 103 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) (1982) contain this definition of piracy:

Article 101
Definition of piracy
Piracy consists of any of the following acts:
(a) any illegal acts of violence or detention, or any act of depredation, committed for private ends by the crew or the passengers of a private ship or a private aircraft, and directed:
(i) on the high seas, against another ship or aircraft, or against persons or property on board such ship or aircraft;
(ii) against a ship, aircraft, persons or property in a place outside the jurisdiction of any State;

(b) any act of voluntary participation in the operation of a ship or of an aircraft with knowledge of facts making it a pirate ship or aircraft;

(c) any act of inciting or of intentionally facilitating an act described in subparagraph (a) or (b).

Article 102
Piracy by a warship, government ship or government aircraft whose crew has mutinied.

The acts of piracy, as defined in article 101, committed by a warship, government ship or government aircraft whose crew has mutinied and taken control of the ship or aircraft are assimilated to acts committed by a private ship or aircraft.

Article 103
Definition of a pirate ship or aircraft
A ship or aircraft is considered a pirate ship or aircraft if it is intended by the persons in dominant control to be used for the purpose of committing one of the acts referred to in article 101. The same applies if the ship or aircraft has been used to commit any such act, so long as it remains under the control of the persons guilty of that act.

This definition was formerly contained in articles 15 to 17 of the Convention on the High Seas signed at Geneva on April 29, 1958. It was drafted by the International Law Commission.

A limitation of article 101 above is that it confines piracy to the High Seas. As the majority of piratical acts occur within territorial waters, some pirates are able to go free as certain jurisdictions lack the resources to monitor their borders adequately.

The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) defines piracy as:
the act of boarding any vessel with an intent to commit theft or any other crime, and with an intent or capacity to use force in furtherance of that act.

For me, these alarmists and fakers of Greenpeace need a lesson of how to behave properly with the rest of the world. We are not so stupid by not thinking like them.
