I've never been in the military.
HHOWEVER-- My ex boyfriend and (now) best friend is a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and is in the ARNG.
Dad is a Vietnam Veteran and was in the Navy and Army.
His Dad was WWII Veteran and was Air Force and Army.
Mom's Dad was Army and a Korea Vet.
Two uncles were Veitnam Vets and in the Army.
One of my friends is a Coastie, and another is an OC in the Navy.

Veteran, formerly SrA, USAF - AFSC 1C451 (TACC). I did a few tours with the 10th mountain division and a two tours with the 101st airborne.
I've seen too many of our best friends die over there, and there is really no excuse or justification for it.
