Sorry guys, agree to disagree, well partialy. I have about 45 or more friends on fb and they are people I want to keep up with. I don't like the games and such, don't trust a few that pay for fb page. Nor do I ever put anything that I may be sorry for later. So to fb for helping some of us find each other. I agree that people who think quanity not quality, a game of "I got 200 friends I don't know", are immature or feel a need to be noticed. Don't know what the inventors of fb meant it to be. I thought it would be a "my space" with forums and mailboxes. I don't think it is just for young people. All in how you use it, JMO
rider4u: is like being at the cool table in the cafeteria in a mental institution
You may well be right.....
Don't do Facebook. Can't understand what all the fuss is about, don't like the structure/format and, quite honestly, I've no idea where people get the time...!

I agree, it's all in how you use it. Facebook when it originally started out put a lot of people in contact with each other and served a greater social purpose but it has digressed into something that even the youth of today are avoiding. There is a growing trend away from Facebook and hopefully it will find it's own level of acceptance. I have never used it as some do (only checking in every once in a while) but for some it has become an addiction and the original concept has now been twisted into an invasion of ones privacy. Not for me thanks anyway.
I check my fb page two or three times a week. I think it all depends on who you have listed as your friends! I enjoy getting notices from some of the "groups" I belong to, and updates from the space info people at NASA, and others.
If they're DRAMA QUEENS in real life, then that's what they are on fb too! Jokers tell funny stories, crybabies cry and whiners whine. No need to get caught up in it if you chose not to!
I love fb and I'm always joking like mad and showing off the stuff I made. I'm also always perving a band of musicians who are all really talented young guys in their 20s. The band is called Steam Powered Giraffe. Somehow I got swept into their fandom. They make life worth living and I would marry them all in a polygamist ceremony in Utah and marry some of their friends too and have all their freaky little babies.
I don't post my life online because it doesn't belong there. Maybe a photo here and there once in a great while. I do have a few private groups I'm part of. In those groups, is a wealth of information sharing. We're all, most likely, being watched more often than not since "key words" are often words we'd never suspect but may use often.
Because I have no quarrels of expressing my views, I do like using it for political and religious expressions. 111 people on my list but have not been defriended by any one so far; there are at least a few that I've tried too.
