Jesus of Nazareth (162)

For philosophical purposes only, not to rile or offend Christians ... what if ... and having said that I specifically invite Spagooch, ArhturDent, Pucks, Lorraine, WildOrchid and any other Christians/Catholics to at least ponder the idea from an academic standpoint ...

What if that's the extent of who he was? Jesus of Nazareth.

So much done in the name of Christ, what if he was just Jesus.

He was the son of Man like we all are...he just believed in something, and people listened to what he had to say. He was Jesus...others made the portrait we see of him today. He only contributed to that image we have of him. He was a teacher in a way...a teacher of his vision and his beliefs etc...and for a lot of peole a healer - the balm that soothes the pain or some people's soul searching.

I haven't been banned just yet so I'll pose an additional query ...

Working on the hypothetical that Jesus was just Jesus of Nazareth would he have said a word had he seen the outcome?

And what is the purpose of you getting banned? Too hard telling yourself that you will not return?

Sorry Gibs, I always appreciated your posts...but can't seem to understand where you're coming from...I find you provoking lately and not just since last night...I refuse to take part in that game.

Hope you get booted soon like you want to...not that i want you booted..but if that's what makes you happy...then so be it...

Yep, censorship is great. Why say anything when they toss someone for less than is said 100 times a day on this site.

No offence but I'm tiring of the Mods picking and choosing.

well i dont know what more i can say in addtion to Rene and Martine.

Jeses was just a man. He was a leader and brought many people together to bring the good word. Jesus wants us to go to him. He wants to become the most important person in your life. Jesus described for his followers what he came to do. I think the extent of Jesus was for him to build a relationship with people. He came to take away enmity, to take away strife, to take away the isolation that existed between God and man.
Jesus is not aloof-he's not so far above us taht he cnat see and understand our problems. Jesus isnt a God who stayed on the mountaintop-He a man...A Savior who came down and lived and worked with people. And when i mean a leader...i just mean a good man where everywhwere he went, the crowds followed, drawn together by the magnet that was - and is - The Savior.
Those are only a few of my thoughts on who Jesus is. Just a man.

If Jesus was just a man then would he not have sinned? He did have many chances to do so... If Jesus was just a man then how does one explain the miracles that he performed?

It's academic.

I'm just posing what if Jesus was just an extraordinary man with a vision of sorts. A Gandhi if you want a comparison.

Jesus was an extraordinary man...but nonetheless a man. Its hard to answer you inquiry without putting some philosophical viewings in it because we all have our beliefts. Bare that in mind. As a christian, the life of Jesus Christ is a message of hope, a message of mercy, a message of life in a dark world. Jesus of Nazareth did this as a person not some ghost.

Its hard to make my point without going deeper. This is a complicated topic. In essence, Christianity is nothing more, nothing less than a desire and an effort to see Jesus. Thats all it is. Were trying to catch a glimpse of a man, not a program, not a plan, not a system, not a doctrine. Were trying to see a man who called himself the son of God.

When Jesus spoke in person and he said "come to me" he soesnt say come to a religion, come to a sytem, or come to a certain doctrine. This is a very personal invitation to a God, an invitation to a Savior.
Those are my views on who Jesus is and what his extent and resons for being are.

A recommended read for those of inquiry "Jesus" by Michael Grant, heas a classical historian who looks at Jesus' existence as a historical reference without opinion and religious conjecture. very mad Not like the Da Vinci code.thumbs down

It's in reference to Belushi being yanked and a thread that ran on the International side which has since been deleted with many others.

No idea why I bother explaining.
