Do you ever come across a fallen oak tree there is lovely smell of it,

I just get the logs from the coal man,I get that country blend for the stove fire,I look after it well.

smitten ,I love my stove fire better than that oil or smelly gas.cheering

I dont get the Irish.....
One punitive tax after another and you sit on your hands, and then being asked to pay for something you actually use and your spitting feathers...
I have no problem paying for water (well, i have been paying for the last 4 years), i do however object to the council tax, for which i see absolutely nothing in return, unlike the UK model where public services and amenities are funded through the council tax....
Wake up Ireland and put your energies into fighting a proper unjust tax, and thats just what council tax is....

Do you get invoiced for water, as in do you get an official billing to your address?....
I had heard from an undocumented source that 2% of your car tax goes towards paying for the maintinance of irish water infrastructure....
Its pretty obvious money comes from somewhere to keep water supply and sewerage / purification systems operational, and so be it, the water tax for the purposes of this discussion would be in respect of usage of a resource, and as i say, i dont have a bother with that....
Property tax (getting the homeowner cos they are an easy non-migrant target), USC, (getting the lowest paid into the tax net), the highest indirect purchace taxation VAT in the union, car registration tax, prohibitively expensive, a health service thats so beurocratically top heavy and front line understaffed were all gonna be paying 1600 euro a year to be ill, and i tell you, water charges are pretty low down on my list of things to get upset about...

to be honest , its not all about water charges , its the straw that broke the camels back. people have had enough. i can see the same protests against the proposed health care changes too. its about time this country rose up and made a stand .... weve been sheep for too long .

I'm all on for rioting but not many people have the balls to do so..you have to put fear into the government to make them listen properlyireland

In November thete is a day for all the counties in Ireland to come out and protest,

Peaceful protest,

Not everyone could make it up to Dublin ,

This time it will give everyone in Ireland a chance to get out in their own town and voice our outrage,

The answer is simple say no to water charges ,,it's up to each person at the end of the day but I know I won't be paying it and either will thousands more be paying it,ireland

When I was in Madrid there were protests and the army was present because like alot f the Greeks with rock throwing through windows and all the rioting that goes with that is anarchy and that dosnt serve a purpose ,,

If we behaved like that here so too would the army and police would be like the way ruc were with Catholics,

I think most of us in this country are civilised enough to protest a peaceful march,

People power with loud voice that just say no,

It is up to each person,

ellimere: plenty young people and people with kids will be hit with these loadings too, i will get hit with them as iv several medical conditions. they want to turn us into little america and i fear its already happening , multinational corporations have a lot of pull here as they do in the us .
ireland has sold its soul to the highest bidder and it looks like our fight for freedom was for nothing !

Well they can stuff their capitalism,,

We do have freedom of speech and that is why I think most of Ireland will turn out in their thousands in November,

Every county in Ireland will be protesting on the same day in own town,,,it's the people that speak.ireland
