It is funny how there is a great assumption that a western guy would want a young eastern girl. I have heard it many times. My ex-wife has berated the fact that I married a Chinese woman to my little girl and she has regurgitated those sentiments back to me. My ex is one of those self-centred and selfish women that this thread began about.

My wife (now) said to me when we were first dating that "a great man marries a younger woman" because in her culture that is the done thing. But I am younger than she is and that was a difficulty she had to overcome.

Glad to say that she did marry me.

I now mix in a completely different circle of people as a result, I have been expanded and now call many people from many different nationalities friends and acquaintances.

When both men and women have faced narcissistic people, it is easy to make generalised judgment calls like the OP did in this thread. It is almost too difficult not to do so.

But we each have our own little bag of selfish ways. To presume that we each don't is to live with a false delusion of ourselves.

The trick that we have that has made our marriage happy and fulfilling is accepting that each of us is a flawed human being. To overlook these flaws and to focus on the major positives that far outweigh the little negatives. We each allow each other to be the individual personality that we are.

I learned that not every sort of woman is suited to me. I learned that star sign compatibility really has something going for it and contains truth.

I can understand the OP grumbling about such things. But it behooves the OP to get off of his fat behind, and find those that are not what he grumbles about. Also to take a good look at himself, because often the traits that we hate in others are the very same traits we ourselves have.

When we view ourselves honestly, it becomes easier to give others some slack about how they are and who they are.
