One must know that some things matter more than others, C.
Firstly, that funny Trabant car was a German made car, not Russian :-)
Secondly, the LIGHT industry products were the typical image makers of once Western democracies. I mean all that funny small items like swatches, lolly-pops, candies, chewing gums, etc. plus fancy cassette recorders, TVs, fashion clothes and stylish cars, etc. But what about rockets, cosmodroms, space labs, etc.. What about fundamental science that is of importance to the whole of mankind? Things like for example TOCAMAK - a kind of artificial Sun for thermonuclear power generation? Etc., etc...
But now all those small items for everyday domestic use are being manufactured in unimaginable volumes in China and after several years that all produce will be made of plastics synthesized from Russian raw materials, the natural gas exported by "Sila Sibiri" - the new gas pipeline that has just started its construction connecting Russia and China?
I think at the best some Europeans countries will continue to keep good clean cows on beautiful mountain slopes. :-)
Ken_19: That's silly. Russia's army is small compared to it's size. Her Navy is obsolete and rusting. Her Air Force is mostly aging Cold War aircraft with only a few 1990s aircraft.
10 years ago you were right . Putin has rebuilt a lot of his services and trained them to a first class force second to none . Whats more US JSF will put western air forces behind the eight ball for a generation to come as its a dog .

GDP - per capita (PPP): $18,100 (2013 est.) country comparison to the world: 77 $17,800 (2012 est.) $17,100 (2011 est.) note: data are in 2013 US dollars
C. Last week Bulgaria lost an annual revenues of E400 million from transportation fees by not allowing that a Russian pipeline to pass from here to Central Europe. So what stupid politics or dull politicians are you talking about?
You may also don't know that Bulgaria was the supplier of 80% of all bottled and canned fruits and vegetables consumed in the former USSR. From that good times it's nothing left. All kinds of factories were destroyed many, many years ago. Fields are not used and the Sun shines over them in vein. And Bulgarians have to go to rainy and windy EU countries to work for the bread. :-)

IMHO overvalued US dollars and partial cooked books only serve to blind the general public. Real economies are real, while cooked ones are simply cooked.
That was the best news of the day. It was reported that 81% approve of Putin. Maybe this will enlighten the citizen's of Russia that it's government is nothing but a bunch of thugs and thieves!
lifeisadream: War has changed to biowar and fear and the first synthetic virus have being achieved a few years back.
Who is funding this kind of research to create bioorganism lethal to humans? I will not say the name of the country(ies) because I might get anothe message saying that I hate people from that country(ies(. Which I do not, I just do not agree on some exterior policy of that particular country(ies).
What are you going to do with the best weapon of the world against a tiny little lethal virus?

Conrad73: Circle,most likely!
It takes 2/100 of a sec for the lethal virus to spread and it takes us from 3/100 to 8 sec to re-act then, everyone is “game over” and the virus reproduces again and again.

In fairness, not only some countries are doing research on microorganisms lethal to humans but also there must be some criminal groups doing the same.
I do remember reading that some vials with some microorganisms have disappeared from high-safety gov institutions up north and also from some others, like during the riots against their president Mub arak.

The Pandora's box has been opened way back.
Now those groups don't need experimental viruses.
They have all the Ebola that they can grab in West Africa.

Who? The scientist that make the bio-weapons? or the gov that funds them? or the underground organizations that are working on them?
"The major findings of this report are that a highly pathogenic strain of H7N1 avian influenza can be adapted to become airborne transmissible in mammals without mutations altering the receptor specificity. Changes in receptor specificity have been shown to play a role in the ability of avian influenza viruses to cross the species barrier and these changes are assumed to be essential. The work herein challenges this paradigm, at least for the influenza viruses of the H7 subtype, which have recently become the focus of major attention as they have crossed to humans."

Putin and Iran may be complicit in North Korea hacking, create a diversion from their own activities, weaken our forces and world opinion while they carry on with their nefarious activities.
