bodleing2: It's true, some people don't respect their environment, some people do. But from my experience, at close quarters, no travelers respect the area they are staying in.
As for those who are settled in the community, by definition, they are no longer 'travelers', so I'm not sure how that is relevant.
You need to know what the definition is, then. In your jurisdiction they are recognised as a separate ethnic group. "Irish Traveller". It's irrelevant what lifestyle, nomadic or not, they have.

Nope I wouldn't date one. From my experience I have found the women to be rough in appearance and rough in nature.
The landscape where I live now has had to change. Open areas now look like pre-Roman hill forts with mounds and ditches around them to try and keep them getting on. It wouldn't matter to them if it was a pristine cricket pitch. You'd find it filled with caravans, trucks and cars. Then once evicted, a bomb site. The council, at the travellers request, have provided sites, but the travellers wont use them.
