ooby_dooby: I'm talking about over 4,000 lives lost at last count and many more as yet unknown. A hundred climbers are stranded on mount Everest. They could freeze to death when they run out of food & fuel.
There is a riot going on in Baltimore with businesses being looted and burned by criminals. These creeps are also attacking fire fighters trying to put out the fires. It will take at least 10 years to undo the damage to the infrastructure of Baltimore and longer to heal the image of a major American city.
Climbers?
They do seek for danger (that gives them the adrenaline they need to live) and they do know before going to Everest that the risk of ending death is high. However, that is their decision and has nothing to do with other events where people are at risks because other persons, not their choice.

Cold hard facts, but these days, we're bombarded with bad news from all across the world. It was only a matter of time before people become desensitised to it, and it become just another news story.
Doesn't mean we don't take notice of it, nor donate to help, but it's not such a big talking point as it may have been a few years ago.
people have their own problems in their own countries to worry about and to be honest i don't give a damn about some idiots that wanted to play Dora the explorer in that mountain.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Thanks ISIS Advocates (The Nation of Islam) For their Support… Posted on April 26, 2015 by sundance It’s not accidental, it’s not a mistake – nor is it coincidental. It is a well scripted “social jihad”.
Baltimore Maryland erupts in riots, looting and civil unrest – and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings goes on television to thank the Nation of Islam for their support:
I love the way there will be a Orioles ball game in an empty stadium tonight. Someone please explain to me why the Orioles and the league didn't just move the game to another city and honor the tickets sold to view it here there?
Nepal is getting scary. Scuffles with police over evacuation bus loading today. Some villages still not reached. Many folks now pushing 4 days or more without water. The official body count is 6,000 in Nepal because they have basically closed the morgue and stopped counting. About 4,500 bodies have been given to family members to dispose of as best they can. Thousands still missing under rubble of course. About 500 Americans among the lost. Many reports of diarrhea from drinking dirty water. Food is short and mountains of supplies sit at the airport, but nothing moves off the airport. At least one arrest of a gang wearing fake police uniforms. see
