galrads: Our country gave Cuban boaters Miami, Florida and half of the Florida keys when Castro cleaned out his prisons in the early 1980s. Tony Montana was their hero.

Me, I would have given them Washington, D.C. and all of California instead.

wow actually, you are very close to touching on one of my needle experiences while living there.
A British friend of mine who also sold and leased new vehicles at Dunton Ford, lived in a home right along Newport Beach. To help supplement our holidays we would, uh, borrow a company cargo van, drive (stoned) up to Big Bear where we, uh, borrowed some pine trees to sell Right on Newport Beach at Christmas. They went quick.
The detail personnel at Dunton did not appreciate having to clean out all the needles left in the vans.
There is much I miss about So Cal (climate, women, low college tuition, always something to do in a non-stop fast paced environment)

wishvis: I am so embarrassed and disgusted with our Prime Minister's (Tony Abbott) response to the call for help with the 7,000+ refugees struggling and drowning off the coast of Malaysia.

His answer? "Nope, nope, nope"! Such a callous, careless phrasing of an arrogant, inhumane attitude!
. Thing is, although he's being kinda harsh, should you govt give these people an inch they will flood your shores in their thousands!
And we'll bear the overflow.
One must ask, as most asylum seekers heading to Australia are Muslim, why aren't Muslim nations stepping forward to recieve them?

There was a recent documentary here about a small town in South Australia (Nhill, I think it is), where the adoption of 160 Karen refugees from Myanmar (Burma) has resulted in the town's reinvention and a net improvement in the town's economic performance to the tune of AUD40 million!

The idea that refugees are a guaranteed net loss to a host country is simplistic prejudice at it's worst.

You seem unaware of the many genuine reasons refugees seek refuge. If your last question is a sincere one, I'd be interested to know what you find out in your pursuing an answer that satisfies you.

you refer to my enquiry as why they do not seek refuge in Muslim countries, yet you give no reply!
Well why do not Muslim places offer refuge?
When a disaster strikes or miltary peacekeepers are needed it seems always to be the west supplying help and assistance.

tarris: Be specific

You are the one misleading. That is the perfect term for what you are doing. I'm not going to hand feed you the corrections to your lazy and self-indulgent assumptions. Read about it for yourself.

Both the original inhabitants of this town and the Karen people are extremely happy with the result of their participation in community life.

Posting opinions based on pure prejudice and negative assumption simply make you not worth talking to. You're a bigot, pure and simple.

My reply is not to waste your time throwing lazy, insincere questions that simply indulge your bigotry, and then expect me to do the research to answer them. Which, by the way, you will then ignore if the results disagree with you, because you're simply not interested in the truth. I'm not interested in having my time wasted by your insincerity and bigotry.

No intention of insulting you, just calling a spade a spade.

Your comments about Nhill had zero basis in fact, but you call it an opinion. It is bigotry pure and simple. You are the one now trying to insult in place of an argument. Hypocrite (not an insult, just another fact).

Tarris, honestly, he only thing you challenge is patience. You present no rational challenge to anything I've said, and never have. All you do is toss around factless "opinions", which I challenge you to accept are nothing better than expressions of bigotry.

'simply put then, you have no reply and instead choose to employ an approach of 'baffle em with bullshet'!!
My questions were simple and direct yet you choose to avoid any answer
