some lyrics are like regurgitating diarrhoea, its music is an abomination and still I might like the song...
If you don't know the reason why one likes/dislikes a song I don't think you will get far with your insight.
Many songs I like/dislike have to do with memories I associate with them, good or bad.
Maybe with songs one never heard before you might get a glimpse ?

yes........there have been many fine singers/songs......song writers/......etc......also soloist who can play their instuments.....beit piano.guitar/ clarinet/saxs. etc.......each to his own....... 22

Perhaps, but what if they don't listen to songs but instrumentals...insights may come by the types of music they like as opposed to mechanical and artificial sounds that mimic musical forms...
