Arthur_Sixpence: You and sir T have the measure if it...
Brexit went through on the smallest of margins, something like17 million for leaving out of a population of 65 million... The problem was too many people thought it would never go through, and so sat in their laurels, it was the elderly and the disenfranchised who voted with near missionary zeal to get back 'sovereignty'.... The dark underbelly of brexit is what it signals for minorities....this, I've said for a long time is England biting back at the foreign immigrants, a stab at the good old 'England my England' , and 'get thee back you brutish hordes'....for which I have been branded a traitor, and d'ya know what, so be it....
Yesterday Bertie Ahearn went on the record calling for a second vote, now I know Bertie has a chequered past, but the man ain't a fool around money....
Knowing what they do now, the young and middle aged of the British isles, if given the chance to vote a second time, and with the benefit of living hindsight, would get up and vote for the single biggest political issue in their lives, and NOT leave it up to the elderly holding on to old ideals and the racially charged looking for a white Britain ...
17 million is a small marginrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

You really need to read the reply...
I'll post the figures later in detail, but meanwhile read this from the BBC, the post brexit breakdown... Nowhere in my comments did I say a majority / duffrtence, and if you think 52% yes against 48% no is decisive / landslide then you are worse at maths than I thought....

doh doh doh doh doh....

charles_nz: There is a very big difference between the first time a White man set foot in Africa and the time the vast majority of Africa came under colonial rule.

I wish you were right, but sadly I doubt it.

The political class don't want to leave the EU, and the fact that the British people (quite rightly) do want to leave is unlikely in the long term to sway the elite.

I'd almost guarantee a second referendum is on the cards.

Hope you're happy, you have helped put your country back fifty years, without the benefit of having indigenous industry and manufacturing to support it... You cling on to a 'great Britain' that is the stuff of history books....
Tell me, did you vote out because you dislike the foreigner that much?, that's the responsibility of your government to enact immigration policy that is fair, given England's historic past, and not a blank cheque to push for changes you won't have to live through...
I've said this plenty of times in your threads, your countries best business minds said brexit was a bad deal for the country, politicians of different parties, domestic and global said it was a bad deal, the pound is in real trouble from what I'm hearing on my news sources, your foreign workers are leaving ahead of being chucked out over what will become work visa conditions, a list of negatives could be found at the click of a mouse button....
So what do you get?.... To be your own bosses.... Bosses of what?....
Yep, China, India, Russia, France, Germany.... They will trade with England, but you're the outsiders now, your not part of the biggest free trading partnership on the planet.... But that's OK, you're British, and you've got that bulldog spirit, devil may care, boots and braces attitude to picking yourselves up and putting the best foot forward....
My only hope after all this is that people who are going to have to live with this mess find some comfort in what's going to be a very unsettled and isolated country with regards to the world stage.... Jesus wept didn't he, and in a way, so will we all...

So people only favour national independence and sovereignty because they hate foreigners? This claim is as offensive to British people as it is absurd.

And are you seriously suggesting a country of 66 million people is too small to be viable???!!!!!!!

Arthur_Sixpence:
On an earlier post, I left a link which broke down the proportion of the vote, it makes for a sobering view... A very large number of people didn't vote
Given that the EU is almost completely devoid of democracy, was the irony intentional?
