I plan on taking in alot of scenery, beautiful sights, nice nature walks and exploring alot of Irelands coastal villages this year.
Can anyone recommend any area they would deem a good spot to check out!!

I'm being biased here, but I do love everything my County has to offer. There are some hidden gems (remote beaches) , not very far from where I live. The greenway attracts thousands from all over especially in the summer, and if you're not into cycling you can stroll along and stop for a picnic too. Mahon falls is grand for a picnic too.
Venturing out of County Waterford, I take an annual visit to cahir in the summer, there's a lovely river walk from cahir Castle to the Swiss cottage, I've some pics but i don't know how to upload them on here from my phone. Another place in Tipp that's quite picturesque is the Glen of Aherlow, I'm gonna head there myself in the summer, haven't been since I was a child.
Cobh has a good atmosphere during the summer months, music on the streets, you can also visit the "titanic experience" and take a trip to Spike Island.

Hey MG.
Thanks so much for that...I really do intend to take in as much as I can this year and those places you mentioned will be seen by me too.
No bias as i find Waterford to be a beautiful county too. Spent a week in Tramore many years ago and i love the feel of the place the views etc. I will try other spots down there like you mentioned. Hopefully we will have a summer like last year to be able to enjoy it all.

Yeah same, I haven't even scratched the surface of the places I want to see. Hopefully we'll get the weather, it makes all the difference. Enjoy your travels
I'll be doing the same as yourself dee, me, the dog, the caravan and the fishing gear... If you're driving some of it, achall island, the petrified village, the drive down from Bangor erris to achall, the bogland, eye-popping desolation, the least habitated place in the Republic, stunning in it's own way... Down the coast away, to connemara and Kylemore abbey... Everyone has their favourites, and tbh, there are very few places without some kind of wonder... You'll have a fabulous year just accidentally happening on places, the very reason Ireland is magical...

You see now I'm jealous I'd love the idea of taking off in a camper van and not having to rely on booking hotels or b and bs...or anything cheaper. I forgot to include history as part of the adventure too.
I will take your advice and go do some researching.
Maybe we will cross paths....I'll be the one with my head under the bonnet of a fiat punto on some motorway.
Was there twice in the last year or so. Definitely making some more trips...my cousin is a chef in some hotel up there....any distance is no distance for a free meal.

All the best for your adventures
Don't worry about the car, if i see you with the bonnet up, it's a sure thing that I'll have the toolkit in the boot of my own car, and tbh, puntos aren't a/ rocket science or b/ heavy to tow... We'd look after you alright... Now history is one of my things, and architecture, you're in limerick, it far from quin abbey, fabulous old franciscain monistary... For engineering, ardnacrusha power station, once it powered the whole of Ireland, up the road to foynes, the flying boat museum, obviously, bunratty folk park, once your in the Clare area, give me a shout, I'll put you on track for some of the riches of the County... Whatever else, if you've got the time and we get the weather, you'll be spoilt for choice... (and if you don't ever see me.........get breakdown cover )...

Well she (my car)...is currently between two garages to get fixed....I think shes going through the change
But once she is sorted I'll be on the road as quick as lightning. I want to venture from Limerick as all parts are really no distance from where I am and I can do that anytime really...and have done so. If you are ever in the County check out Curraghchase..it is in Kilcornan...between askeaton and kildimo....worth a visit and a wander around...beautiful scenery
Yes I'd like to see all those little places no one goes to where there is often such beauty and history
What's place doesn't have history really. I love Castlegregory and might try there first...their beach, for me resembles being in a foreign country its fab..when the weather is good.
Good luck on your travels Arthur...when I'm up your way which will be a when rather than an if, I'll let u know might meet for a coffee.
any spot nice if you have plenty of funds..i personally love westport , aran islands and wee donegal but if you ever fancy galway turf season fast approaching and your more than welcome to help me out you can go where you like but you wont beat the bog

There's more places in Clare that I haven't explored than places that I have, but the Clare coast leading to Galway is pretty amazing, particularly in a place called 'Bell Harbour'...around the back of the church lies a rough old track which I believe is called 'the green road', this runs parallel to the coast road with a 300ft elevation, and you can see salthill on a clear day (with binoculars), now when I say it's a rough road, I'm not kidding, it will see off the suspension of the unwary, so it's a case of one person drives while another looks out the window....(dy'a know what, that could be the cleverest chat up line in CS history, if used a particular way) "hey there, would you like to see my vantage point"....but I digress... Continuing along to the end of this amazing road will take you to bishops quarter, a black sand beach much loved by beach lovers and spaniels... (just saying), and the last place where I actually ran bare foot and beat my athlete daughter in a beach sprint... Further towards kinvarra is traught beach, though I can't remember much about it, other than Brian Ferry has a house there... Then I've completely forgotten to extole the virtues of 'the Burren'.... One of Cromwells generals said of it, "there's not a tree to hang a man, or water to drown a man, nor soil to bury him"... See it in moonlight, its a humbling experience.... For dinner, go to Cassidys pub in Caron, it's the home of cooked goat!... Honestly, I could chunter on here till the batteries run out, moher, liscannor, fanore, lisdoon, ennistymon, (the Ted house, up the road from me) killfenora, lough bunny, the various tower houses, the amazing monks tower at tierneeven (Clare / galway border), Garryland (back of coole park)... Really, there won't be enough hours in the day for the curious traveller....which is why I intend to get out and see Ireland while I still can...

Hi L, I used go down to the Burren a lot as my da was a big fan of the place. It's very relaxing and never seems to get overcrowed, beautiful. Deedee, some fantastic villages on the coast in Connamara such as Roundstone, a little gem. galway city is also worth seeing if you don't know it already.

Funds wont be plentiful So aslong as I have petrol in the car and a bed to sleep in then I'm happy to spare the pennies elsewhere and just see all the sites I can. Thinking of doing an album of my stays and what I do. Journaling it all too.
I'll leave the bog thanks...spent a summer evening there once helping out...hardest job ever.
