I would prefer a shelter dog. There are a lot of dogs a that are pedigree that could be found in a shelter. Unless you’re planning to take the dog to dog shows, a shelter dog would make the perfect addition to your family.

A shelter dog. If for no reason other than that I am tight with money, and wouldn't be prepared to spend money on a pedigree dog when I could get a dog for free.

A shelter dog, of course. They are already here and need homes. If not adopted, they are euthanized. Ask your local shelter how many per year.

There was a shelter dog that was going to be adopted but he refuses to leave his kennel
Why? His biggest friend was a little dog and the people had no choice but to take both
I am sure you can Google this and see the pair, the little dog in the arms of his buddy wave

If you have the space and the money, 2 dogs are better than 1 anyway. Pack animals need company. The alpha dog minds you, and the beta minds the alpha.

Getting a dog for free, can easily cost you more than a pedigree dog.

My friend got two dogs from the shelter... the vet bills on one of them cost over $10,000!

I paid $1000 for pick of the litter from a batch of pedigree American Bulldogs. He lived for 14 years, and never needed a vet.

I paid $750 for a pedigree Labrador Retriever. She's 11 years old, and never needed a vet.
Because she's pure Lab, I was able to place her in a good home, as a service dog, to a senior citizen, when she got too old to keep up with me.

Because I bought two pedigree dogs, I was able to register their pups as American Bulladors, with the National Hybrid Registry.

The American Bulladors I found online started at $900, when I bought my dog in 2004.

I sold my pups for $500 a piece, and paid for both parents with their first batch.

With what was leftover, they helped pay for 14 years of feeding and worming my $1000 dog.

When you get a shelter dog, you can save $940; but you're not as likely to get a properly bred dog, that was bred from healthy parents, to be healthy and live long lives, free from vet bills.

It costs just as much to feed a cute shelter puppy with birth defects that'll keep you paying vet bills: as it does to feed my dogs, that haven't needed a vet in 3 generations.

Not only those things; but even though my 14 year old dog died, I have 9 dogs representing 3 generations, that all have at least 50% of his genes.

I can produce pups that look and act like my dead dog that cost me $1000 in 2004, with 60% of his genes, for the rest of my life.

Because all my dogs were born in my house, and they're raised with kittens, I know exactly how they'll behave when they see cats. I know exactly what they're afraid of, and what makes them aggressive.

I never get surprised by a dog that was trained to chase cats; or by a dog that's afraid of cars, or any of the other bad behaviors shelter dogs can have...

If you've got an extra $10,000 for vet bills, you want to show love to a sickly dog, and your willing to spend a few hundred hours training bad behaviors out of it, get a shelter pup for $60.

Or you can... pick a breed of good dogs, find a breeder who's breeding old dogs that are still healthy, pay $1000 for a puppy that grows into a dog that's the size you expected, with traits you can bank on; and save $9000.

This is true; but I'd rather raise one dog at a time.

As soon as you give into the dog that won't leave without it's friend, that dog is alpha over you.

Good luck extracting yourself from that situation. You'll probably need to seperate them for training anyway.

After you've got one trained, it's much easier to train a pack! The dog you trained does most of the work.

A Pit Bull that comes with it's own training treat!

Pit Bulls are the smartest dogs on earth. Most dog breeds stopped being subjected to natural selection 100 years ago. Many breeds stopped being bred by natural selection 500 years ago.

To survive this long, Pit Bulls had to be smart enough to fight bulls, bears, lions, and they've even had to fight elephants!

Not only that; but any Pit Bull that bit a man while it was in the pit, was immediately killed; and their genes were kept out of the gene pool.

Many people think Border Collies are the smartest dog on earth. They're the most obedient breed; but Pit Bulls are more intelligent.

I used to breed Old Family Red nose Pit Bulls. The one that won a first place blue ribbon in obedience at an AKC event, against a Bouvier, a Malanois, and a Standard Poodle, wasn't even among the top 5 best Pit Bulls I bred.

After 9 generations, I quit breeding Pit Bulls; because you need at least 5 or 6 dogs in your yard to be a serious breeder; but it's hard to have 5 or 6 Pit Bulls without one of them wanting to kill another one...

As far as a shelter pick, that'd be sterilized, and never be able to breed...

I've trained dogs that were motivated by praise, and food, and toys; but I never got to train a dog that was motivated by the love of another dog!

A Pit Bull who loved a little dog would be a blessing to just about anybody who was lucky enough to find them.

The American Bulldog is like a Pitbull; but their accepted weight begins at 80 pounds, and they can weigh over 180 pounds.

That's what the Marines are using for their new mascot.

I read, Bite sleeves that could take bites from German Shepherds for a year... an American Bulldog can ruin with one bite, and bruise the arm that was inside of the sleeve.

Pit Bulls may have the strongest bite for dogs that weigh between 30-80 pounds; but there's really mean, hard biting dogs, in areas that used to be behind the iron curtain.

Dogs that were bred by natural selection. Flock guardians who didn't even get a collar, till they killed their first wolf. Dogs that were known for being able to take the stoutest Crusader off of his horse. Dogs that are effective protectors of their sheep, against bears. Dogs that thrive in environments that'd kill a Pit Bull. Dogs that can easily kill a man.

Dogs whose owners won't call them off, if you're walking near their farms; because they don't wanna ruin a good dog.

Ancient breeds of war dogs. Bigger, stronger, meaner, and healthier, than any dogs we have in the "West."

King you would qualify to be a judge at a dog show.
A former neighbour of mine did this.
She flew all over the world and with all the perks and good money, she did pretty well wave wave wave
