Since I once taught in an adolescent psychiatric hospital, I've known more than a few with psychosis. It's sad and strange. One of my students was having conversations with Napoleon.

This is not the place to discuss aspects of my personal life. Suffice to say it was a heartbreaking place to work. There were a few children that were eventually mainstreamed, but for most it was not possible. The place I worked was the last stop in the chain.

I did not stay all that long. It was a very sad place with occasional flashes of hope and a connection that disappeared as quickly as they appeared.

But what were you trying to teach them, is what I want to know, not the private deductions and details of your private life? We all make our own deductions of everything if you are a free-thinker!!!!

I presume you are referring to schooling, of what grades and what subjects, or all rolled into one, as I cannot see separate classes? a Bit unfair to the kids, if so!!!

Typically the classes were only a few children and they were mostly separated into grades, so the idea was to teach to testing standards of that particular grade. The reality was, education was not the primary purpose of the hospital. The adolescents were there for therapy first, second, and third.

People with psychosis feels attracted to me, as I see them as people, not cases. I have heard many true stories, and felt for them, but mainly adults, depending on how you define an adult, at what age, generally appear very mature for their ages, and have lived, in their minds, very many lives, some. Their imaginations are amazing. The question always is: Is it really their imaginations, or would we prefer not to know, because of the psychological impact on us?

I don't know if you've seen the play and film Equus, Richard Burton starred as the psychiatrist treating a boy for psychosis, I remember one line vividly.

He said, yes i can take away his psychosis which is his passion.I can do that but it will leave an empty hole, he will no longer have his psychotic passion , his reason to live. all there will just be an empty shell.

Sometimes it's better to leave someone to live out their passions, or should we turn everyone into carbon copies of our norm?

Only that an undiagnosed oshcotic schizophrenic killed my friend and the girl he tried to save. They were all on a migrant labour camp in Australia which was probably the spark.

This thread reminded me of this film:

A Beautiful Mind

Although I read somewhere that John Nash was much more aggressive and abusing toward his wife and in general.
