M4_Mischief: I don't see the purpose of them for pure entertainment.....I agree with what jono said about sancutuaries tho for animals that cant/wont survive in the wild....just as bad are people who buy exotic pets and then release them into the wild because they can no longer care for them....that's just as cruel.....

Reasons why people think keeping animals in zoos is bad for their welfare, the animal is deprived of its natural habitat. The animal may not have enough room.
Or, is it your belief that keeping animals in zoo's is considered to be positive reasons such as:
Zoos provide an educational resource. A zoo provides a protected environment for endangered animals. Zoos can provide a place for the humane treatment of rare animals. Zoos can also be an economic resource for a community.
