We celebrate Jesus' birthday December 25th but I've read that he was actually born on a different date.
Theologians have also suggested that Jesus was born in the spring, based on the biblical narrative that shepherds were watching over their flocks in the fields on the night of Jesus' birth — something they would have done in the spring, not the winter.
I've also heard that the North Star wouldn't have been over Bethlehem on Dec. 25th.
For years I've always believed it was in the spring. For the same reasons you state as well as others. The "star" (of Bethlehem) which led the wise men to the manger...was not a BIG BRIGHT star as depicted in paintings because we have Herrod trying to trick the wise men in telling him where "the King" was... He saw no star. Had he also seen the star he surely would've known where to look. So "the star" wasn't bright, wasn't a comet, it would've been an.... ASTROLOGICAL (as opposed to astronomy) EVENT. The Wise men being magi (magus) would've cast astrological charts.
