thanx—I thought you threw me to the banshees—yes, things are very good —this little booger-kitten has turned out to be exponentially good for me—who needs people when you have a cat that loves you? I’ve been working like a coal miner getting boxes emptied, papers (that don’t count anymore) burned and/or shredded, organizing everything-absolutely everything-, in a tall 4-drawer filing cabinet. My little “cottage” is starting to be the cute beach house I’ve always wanted—-funny, I’ve had it all along....dunno My sister is giving me a beautiful “faux” fireplace—it does heat, and though false, it will give the house extra ambience. The surround is rosewood and colonial brick...also, I was a little concerned about cost but the bed/carrier for the kitten was given to me (70.00), a kitty-condo-tree was given to me (40.00), I found a covered litter box—new, at GoodWill for 5 dollars ( new they’re about 40.00), and the fireplace, dig this, is marketable for about 1,000.00 yeah, I’m a happy camper—been riding my bicycle almost every day, down to the quay and bay access road (spectacular view) and a local park done in Japanese Garden style. Things are so rad it’s starting to worry me!teddybear

Note: I’m aware there are Gaelic misspellings-not my doing. ( the computer “ corrects” incorrectly, and I missed a couple of “ repairs. For instance, it’s “chomh”, not chomp. Thanx for “ getting” this. Also, I’m very open to any words/punctuation you might be willing to point out. I’m a perfectionist and want it 100% right. Thxhandshake

Bessie Smith -- Baby Won't You Please Come Home 1923

Bessie Smith (1892 or 1894 --1937) was the most popular and successful female American blues singer of the 1920s and 1930s, and a strong influence on subsequent generations, including Billie Holiday, Mahalia Jackson, Dinah Washington, Nina Simone and Janis Joplin.
This is one of her first recordings in 1923 with pianist Clarence Williams.
In no other way than living the kind of violent, hard-drinking street life she sang about, could Bessie Smith have inspired in her audiences the powerful empathy that ultimately won her the title, "Empress of the Blues." Throughout her career, Bessie was respected for being a strong, independent African-American woman with tremendous talent and determination.
