Urs started a thread asking if, being married was it acceptable for one to go and find "online freinds'

It is my thought that freinds are freinds, whether its online or found at the grocery store or down the street. The answers posted she got from that thread shocked me.

It was like being married and having online friends was a cardinal sin, a grievous wrong, dispicable thing to do. WHY???

I am confused why one cannot have or develope freindships online if they are married???

If I was of that mind set, I would be more upset at her developing new friends in the actual world.

Or am I so lame I am missing something doh

Just a thought....I believe if one is married...they should have mutual friends...other couples...with the divorce rate being what it is highly likely some of those will turn single....if I were married I would not want to put any undo stress in the marraige...so therefore I would not have male online friends....everyone is different on their views of what a marraige should be.

I totally agree with you, sometimes it's just easier as a woman to talk to a male friend about certain things, and I'm happy to say that I have such a friendcomfort

If you are secure enough in your relationship then you will know where your partner's loyalty are. If you have a good relationship you will always know you can trust them.

I'll admit that when I was married I used to get apprehensive about his "new friends" because he had proven to me that I could not trust him. At first I was cool about him even having friends that were female until he started messing around.

dude what's wrong with having friends. FRIENDS is an inportant part of everyone's life. If you can't have friends Then you need to check your own self esteem. Online is just the mordern way of meeting people. Almost everyone is talking now a days online. If a guy told me i couldn't have friends, online or offline, I'd ditch him in a flash. men come and go, but friends are forever. I have both male and female friends, and so does my boyfriend. Some we both know of and some we don't. We don't stress over it. We get along with each other and that's all that matters.

I posted to that thread, and my answer was pretty much cut & dry, as it will be now--again. I feel that there is nothing wrong with having/seeking online friends while being married. However, I don't agree that it would be proper to go to a "dating site" to make "friends" while being married. That's *my* opinion.wave
