Gosh..you mustn't have had much to do with the countryside then Pekaatje ..or a farm either as that's where all your food comes from...it's either growing out of the dirt or walking on it and eating it..and one feeds the other...
I used to follow the hens as a child when they were clocking...and come back with a lovely fresh egg....then go down the fields in september/oct to pick mushrooms, berries and nuts..go fishing...snare rabbits...I could have fed myself for nothing if I had to and I knew how to do it as well...sadly far too few children these days even know where their food comes from..or what it really is..
