I have been talking to several women on the site...and all of us are faced with the same dilemma..myself included....

The "distance" thing...

If there are any couples on here that have overcome the "distance" issue...please tell us what your secret is...we really want to know

We can't all help where our hearts go...and sometimes it goes to a person that lives in another state, another province...another city...and try as we might...we don't want to throw the towel in on these people...we want them in our life....so how do we keep this relationship going?...What is your advice?wine

Hi Urs,

I have fallen in love with a man who lives in Texas. He has expressed his love for me on many occasions. I will be going to Texas to be with him in April. Then, one of us will have to move. In reference to what Darren wrote - moving is always an option if you really and truly want to be with the person that you love. Young children complicate the situation, for certain. However, the "other stuff" always works itself out. Lorraine.

Hi Urs,

I didn't completely answer your question in my last post. The two of you keep the relationship alive by writing several letters to each other, every day. That process takes time. People really have to commit to putting their thoughts into letters that they have to type into a computer screen. You talk on the telephone. In doing both of these things, you are really communicating. You plan your times together and you make them happen. Eventually, one of you moves. The other things work out. Lorraine.

As Lorraine said, young children complicate things (mine are 9 & 12)..but adult children should not be an issue....cuz they should have their own lives to live by now....or at least one would hope so...dunno

Well Sylvain and I keep things alive by emailing several times a day and by talking on yahoo. We probably know more about each other because of it. One of us will be moving to be with the other .. but this will not happen for a couple of years, so for now, we will enjoy our weekend visits and holidays together, keeping up with the correspondence.

Wikked, i totally agree your younger children complicate things. I also agree that older chilren, or should i say young adults (18 and older) should be starting to take care of themselves and not expect the parents to do everything. If my children live with me when there are in their late teens, early twenties, i'd probably expect some small help with bills etc. Not coz i need the money but becuase its time for them to learn responsibility and ways of the real world. I bet they'd be moving out soon. lol ok going of topic sorry people.

if you're kids are all grown up, like 18 and over. they dont need mommy there all the time. live for you now, you did your job. move there to him. if it doesnt work out, you could always go back to where you were.Time to start thinking for you.

one nice thing with distance relationships is you really get to talk to the person and learn about them while you are apart - embrace the time! eventually you will decide who will be moving and to where...

Huh distance that is some poor excuse for not wanting things to work out, You can reach most places on this planet within 24 hours, Now if your new partner lived on our nearest star in this solar system distance would be a problem at 93 million light years away travelling at 17000 mph it would take 50.000 years to travel now that is what i would call distance laugh wine canada
