Ok your really like a person, maybe even love them. but they keep their apt/house a mess. I mean a real mess like clothes all over, garbage full, empty containers all over, papers scattered, dirty laundry piled up, you get the picture. Now can you live with that knowing you would be the cleaner all the time. do you like/love them enough to stay? Or would this mess just drive you away? What are your thoughts on this?

I don't think that I could live with them. You could always try talking about the issue. However, my suspicion is that the other person will not change. I wouldn't want to be "the cleaner". L.

Well speaking as a bachelor, a guy need's to keep his place somewhat decent. The way I see it is what kind of lady is going to want a person that can't take care of themselve's? My place isn't alway's perfect but it's alway's presentable.

I may have certain "habits"....ummmm...okay i like everything to be clean and orderly....however that's just me...I don't expect everyone to be a "perfectionist" in keeping their homes clean, but presentable is far different from an outright "slob"...

Depends what you term as a slob.....I have seen some pretty scary places (health hazzards) and some messy places taht are just disorganized. My place gets disorganized after working many 14 hour days, but I don't leave food rotting on the counter for weeks on end.

Also realize that the disorganization and what some people view as being a 'slob' can be symptoms of some mental illnesses (depression, schizophrenia, obsessive/compulsive disorder, etc.).

But, if someone is an uncaring slob not aflicted with anotehr issue, then that is a different story.

Just remember to consider the individual situation. Ther are lots of neat freaks whose places become disorganized due to other factors beyond their control...and how many mothers are able to keep their homes as neat as pins when they have 2, 3 or 4 small children to care for? Can't call them slobs...just very, very, very busy.

Always another way to look at things....

well if that is truly your opinion and not sarcastic then I am happy I am not the only one who feels this way! My house is not dirty but it is often cluttered - I have 2 kids and I work long hours, when I get home I don't want to do anything except relax and unwind!blushing

Honestly slobs are a turn off to me. My brother used to live with me and I kicked him out because of that. I do not tolerate it. Especialy if they are grown adults. My son who is almost 9 can keep his room clean by himself so why can't an adult??

Don't get me wrong. My place isn't always sparkling clean (I have 2 kids need I say more lol) but I always keep it decent and I don't have filthy clothes or dishes or food lying around either. That is just plain insanatary and dangerous to ones health especialy children.

Yup,head banger

and clutter everywhere always creates stress. An unneccesary stress too when our lives are filled with enough of it already.

yes i totally agree with you pucks, it really does stress me out if anything is messy or untidy. no papers or books or old food or dirty clothes laying around this house. and i can find everything also. no way would i live with a slob my last b/f wanted to move in with me, well my jaw dropped to the ground. he was the picture of a slob. if i went to his house, i couldnt find a clean place to sit. if i wanted something to drink there was never a clean glass, they were all over his bedroom and under his bed. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
