My Roommate will not allow me to say a prayer at the dinner table because I'm not a Christian. She says she will only allow Christian prayers praying to Christ in her home. I don't get her thinking.
But my question is this: I think a prayer is a prayer is a prayer-- NO MATTER what religion it comes from. And a blessing in the name of any diety is a good thing, in my opinion.
If it was your home... and lets say-- a priest, a buddhist monk, a Rabbi, a High Priestess (Wiccan spiritual leader), and a preacher were in your home and each wanted to say a prayer in your behalf, would you refuse any of them?? Or any other religious leader I can't think of at the moment??
Personally, as I have said... All religions are legit, and all are a good thing. As long as someone doesn't force someone else to become a religion they don't want to become. And I don't see anything wrong with any prayers, as long as they are for the common good.
Yes but what are your thoughts on prayers in general-- like said out loud in your home... don't focus on my silly roommate.. she's just messed up. BUT what are your thoughts about the subject in general??

I would not mind a prayer from another religion in my home. However, there are some religions I would not allow. Wikken, devil worship, druid, etc. If you are one of those religions, I respect your freedom of beliefs but it is my home and please respect my freedom of choice. Pray silently if you want to.
I wanted to point out that I AM Wiccan, and it is NOT devil worship, or evil or wrong in any capacity. THAT is a misconception. Actually there is no Devil in Wicca, because the Devil is a Judeo/Christian concept. There is a God and a Goddess in Wicca, not a devil.
Not you neccesarily but you did include it in the same category as devil worship, in the same sentance. And since this is a common misconception I was explaining that to the masses who might not know.
any prayer to a GOD of love, is indeed allowed in my home or anywhere i am at. nowhere in the Bible does it say any one kind of prayer is better than another. as long as any two come together. i have to question the legitamcy of a christian that would say such a thing, if for no other reason than to think that her very own type of praying and view of christianity would rub off on you. i cant see her validity. kat

No, I included it in a catagory of religious beliefs that I would not allow in my home to be prayed out loud, so please don't assume I thought Wikken was devil worship...does Wikken allow for apologies?
