I believe this country was based off Christian Morals. Wether or not they are around today is not the question. No, she should not be granted her way out. She could be a miracle. Then she would kick herself for thinking so. You live life to the fullest. Each day she is alive is a day to repent, and accept Christ. Perhaps that is why she is still alive today. And why many of you are all alive today. Hhmmmm....

it's not fair to expect doctors to give said prescriptions.

doctors are trained to SAVE lives...and it may go against who they are to help end one. if they agreed, then they already would have done something for her.

besides, is it reeeallly that hard to commit suicide? does she absolutely need someone to do it FOR her?

I believe it is everyones right to choose the course of their life,

including it's end, that's why it's called "their" life.

Who am I, or any of you,

to choose the course of another person's life.

If you're referring to the US it was certainly influenced by Christian morals but it was based in freedom. There's a clear distinction between church and state. The freedom to choose how we believe is guaranteed. Those morals and beliefs are great for you and me but not everyone feels the same. I think that's probably the greatest thing the framers of the Constitution did.

I personally don't agree with taking your own life, and I really doubt I would do it myself but who knows what I would do in the same circumstances. I think each person should be able to do whatever floats their boat as long as they don't harm anyone else.

I think most people, given the chance can make pretty rational decisions. Those who don't, well that's why we have Darwin Awards

Anyway, my .02

I agree Ocee...but what about what Lori said...made alot of sense to me...

First of all...how hard is it for one to commit suicide if they really wanted to...but doing it this very "public" way makes you wonder at what they really want...

And secondly...perhaps as you say it is everyone's given right to choose the course of their life...but then aren't they infringing on the "rights" of doctors who have given their Hippocratic oath and dedicated their own lives to saving the lives of others??...now in their need to conduct the outcome of their life they want others to "compromise" theirs???

dunno sigh

Just thought i'd add this as well...when the general public reads about the "mass suicide" of organized cults (and that is my own word and not meant to offend anyone)...they dont immediately think "Oh well it was their life..."

They thing "What the hell were they thinking??"..and "how idiotic was that??"

But these people were dying for a cause...one they believed in...but no one really sees it that way at first do they?dunno

I do not dispute anyone's right to live their life as they see fit...I may not agree with someone taking their own life, or choosing "suicide", but again certainly it is their life and their right to do so...when you meet your maker...you will be standing alone....

There is much to say about the "human will"..it can make you overcome alot of circumstances...the same principal that goes for having the will to live, goes for having the will to die....it does not discriminate...so if a person really does want to find a way to die...they will do it....unassisted if need be...

I still maintain if your are "physically" unable to end your own life...then you are now infringing on the rights of others to assist you in your decision to end yours....professor
