For natives...it's a medicine that cleanses the mind, body, soul and spirit and is also used to cleanse the home of negativity etc and replaces it with peace and serenity!!!!

It's a ritual of Native American cultures. White sage is believed to cleanse a space of any evil spirits that may be present. This power is said to be released from the plant by the burning of the leaves, which are typically bundled into a wand or stick. Today many Native American tribes still use the stems and leaves for smudging as part of purification ceremonies.

My understanding of burning White Sage is to clear a place of

negative energy, 'leftovers' from others.

When entering/moving to a home that others have resided in prior,

I 'salt' a house, and around the boundaries, as well as burn White

Sage and "smoke" each room. to cleanse it.

‘Burning Sage’ is a female rock group from Cleveland Ohio.

A burning sage, is a wise person who meditated too close to the candles.

Good call, you and bama gave great details on sage, also can be mixxed with several other herbs and sweet grass type stuff. We use it alot in our ghost studies, especially if there is negative type things, also will help bring peace of mind.

Some people think it smells like marijauna when its burned.

Sorry to hear that. I do the whole thing of bathing in the smoke and all. Helps to give me a positive feeling.

You should hear about the first time I bathe in the smoke, it was like a mild version of the exorcist. My native american friend thought I had some kind of spirit attach itself to me. My friend wanted me to see a Shaman (spelled right?). Never went tho.

Thanks everyone.
I got a little bundle of sage and burned some in the basement area, where the computer is, etc... Going to burn some upstairs later tonight.

I can't help but wonder about the phrase "sending home lost spirits" because if that is all it took, wouldn't haunted spaces be non-existent?

Has anyone heard of cats seeing spririts?

thumbs up applause

I use it for many of the above reasons... cleansing my spaces.
also, for ridding negative energies that feel they should stick around...

Mine is a juniper/sage smudge stick. I use a huge feather while reciting and claiming our spaces...grin

I am sorry to say, if you are interested in these things, perhaps you should not watch the lost people on tv, but consider (And I know I am going to get some $#!t for this) reading up on religions. Yes, I said Religions, not just one. Read their doctrines and such. Most "Ghosts" can be identified as Demons. Demons cannot take the form of a human to completely deceive you, so they try in other forms. Sometimes their purpose is to drive you away from beliefs of the church, by making you believe there is not such afterlife. If you believe the souls are lost, then where do they go? If not Heaven or Hell? Therefore, it would make sense to know that if people even have souls *Which is religion again* then there must be a Heaven or Hell. So if you believe in supernatural, with this understanding, wouldn't it make sense to head to the source of these theories (and I say this with respect to those who do not believe in religion)?

I do not claim to know all, but I have messed with Witchcraft in the past, refusing God and anyone trying to help. Although I learned something from all this. The events happened by coincidence, which leads you to either believe in the fact it was just a coincidence, or the fact that these things are in effect, but with logical sense to it. Which helped me understand how and why things happened in a religious aspect. Science being the logical sense to prove the changes of things brought by the reasoning of a religious or supernatural sense.

Oh Lord. I did it again. I am sorry. I caught myself. Okay yeah, any questions email me, other than that. I said too much.
