Hi ive only recently become single after 17 years. it's been hard to come to terms with, even though it was me that initiated the split. My wife has moved out of the home and i now live with our three kids (16,15 and 9 years old). The reason i have stayed with the children and she has moved out are complicated. basicaly my she has some issues that have been with her since she was a kid. Over the years we both tried to deal with these issues, but over the last years or so i felt that while i was trying to deal with thses difficult problems, that effected all of us, my wife had given up trying, and was slipping into a seirious drinking habbit and was not even attempting to be part of our lives. After a particularly trying week a couple of months ago i put it to her that we could not continue living this way. she moved into her own house yesterday, and while i was happy for her that she has some stability and the time and space to maybe start trying to sort herself out, i also had a fairly strong sense of finality.
Sorry for boring you all with my probs.
i hope to find someone to talk to more than anything else.
thanks for eading my post.

Hello Bertie. Am new here too, and appreciate your story, - we all have one remember. It's not much perhaps, but I find believing that although I may be 'alone' - I need NEVER be lonely.
I'm sure your kids will be very grateful for your strength. Be good to yourself.

what a good welcome.
I've been reading some of the posts on here and it does seem like a good site to have a laugh.

my ex was here about half an hour ago, she's coming tomorow to take the wee one shopping. how stressful is it meeting yer ex after everything thats been said over the last couple of months, it's a weird feeling. got a bottle of wine-haven't had wine for ages, i'm more of a guiness drinker realy-goni swally that (as they say in glasgow)and maybe go and get another one. wine

Aye we are both acting as if thats the case, but for me anyway, it's realy strange. Some days i realy miss her but then other days i'm still mad as hell with her and don't even answer the phone when she calls.

You'll be like for a while yet, hun. Your emotions will be all over the place. This may sound corny, but truly, time is the only healer hug
