well we do have BIG problem with illegal immigrants in malta, but i think thats a bit of a severe way of solving the problem!
from a personal point of view I'd sooner intercept them all out at sea and turn them around and send them back to where they came from.....closed door policy maybe but we can always set up recruitment centres in africa if need be

This is not a controversial matter - this is a murderous suggestion. A Brit living in Malta, taking advantage of the advantages that living in Malta offers, suggests sinking the boats of illegal immigrants at sea. And we shrink from facing him! We have to take time off from talk of love and other nice preoccupations to see him off. Or do we, at some level, believe he holds the solution which threatens our arcadia?

I am stunned by this fellow's thread. What made him think that there would be eager supporters for his view in this forum. What makes person even think of such things, never mind asking others what they think about it! He reminds me of Yeat's fearful lines "..the Beast, its time come again, slouches its way to Bethlehem to be born".
What I would like to see is more tangible help from the rest of Europe.

i dont really want to sink/kill all the immigrants, it was just a way to grab attention on the subject involved and you gotta admit it worked.
instead of all getting at me you should post about the subject like the guy called killing time did.

You say "instead of all getting at me"....did you expect anyone to agree with what you said? I can assure you that there are other means to grab attention.
I am totally sure that if it had to be one of your family members you wouldn't even suggest that as a "joke". Many people have no idea what these people go through to make it (if they do) to another country, hoping to find a better future. Let us not forget that they are humans just like us. You don't have to help them if you do not wish, but at least respect the fact that they are HUMANS.
