I like Bill Richardson too. I know he's not as smooth as Obama, but he has the experience to do a good job.
I have not been too impressed with the Democrats. Obama never says anything of substance, I think he'll flame out when the real policy talk starts. He just doesn't have the experience yet. In 8 years, he'll be a good one.
As for the Republicans, I'm pretty amazed that Guliani is doing as well as he is. 3 marriages, pro-choice, and has supported gun control. But he is a crazy person when it comes to terrorism. McCain sold out to the religious right, and Romney is a mormon. (I know, i doesn't matter to me. But the christian whakjobs will make a big deal of it.)
I heard Fred Thompson is running now. Just another old rich white guy. So he'll probably get the nomination.
Just as a point of interest, I found this in a google search on Obama's religious upbringing and current beliefs.
"And I speak with some experience on this matter. I was not raised in a particularly religious household, as undoubtedly many in the audience were. My father, who returned to Kenya when I was just two, was born Muslim but as an adult became an atheist. My mother, whose parents were non-practicing Baptists and Methodists, was probably one of the most spiritual and kindest people I've ever known, but grew up with a healthy skepticism of organized religion herself. As a consequence, so did I.
It wasn't until after college, when I went to Chicago to work as a community organizer for a group of Christian churches, that I confronted my own spiritual dilemma."
Well if Obama was more of what I liked in a politician, I would agree with you. But I have to say this in his behalf then is this, he at least is someone that has a record of doing what he says, and that would make him the best canedate the Dem's would have had in over 30 years.
But so far I don't see anyone I would support running.
I think Obama has the stuff, but Hillary has Bill . Might I say that no-one is gonna take your guns away. Please don't be so nieve to think that will ever happen. Do you really think there gonna come around and take your guns from you...If the FED tried I think they would be in a world of hurt...From the end of your barrel and many others. I consider it a non issue...No-offense.
I guess that depends on what you consider substance. When he talks about real people and real situations, when he has the courage to go to Ohio and tell them that their Justice system has been unfair to white American women for centuries that is of substance to me. I have lived down South and I know just how unfair and biased the Justice system has been to women. If the people from the South are not too ignorant and I don't believe they are to hear this man talk about real issues in America, he will do okay. Policy talk? Bush didn't even know who the President of Pakistan was when he ran for President the first time. Policy talk will be undoing the damage Bush has done. They will all be trying to figure out how that can be done. The only thing that will hurt Obama is that big corporations and rich supporters are who run the campaigns and if he refuses to sell out to them, it will be lack of funds to compete with the experienced greedy liars who will tell you whatever you want to hear to get a vote. McCain should have lots of experience in manipulating as does Guliani and Romney the moron, just listen to the concerns of the people or have your stategist listen, smile and lie, just like Bush did....And prioritize, the rich first, then the majority of American idiots.
what gets me is why don't they let the american people decide who they want for there president instead of electing someone who is only out for the money
I'm with Tenore on this. We seem to be under some illusion that we are voting for, who we believe to be, the best person to do the job when, in fact, we should be voting for, yes, the one that we fell will do the least damage. But then they all do in the end, don't they?
What amazes me is that, even with all the controversy surrounding Bush's first "election" results, nepotism, and his background, etc., he actually got voted in the second time!!! What??? Duuhhh....
I still maintain that George W Bush is dangerous because he doesn't know what he's doing, Condoleeza Rice is dangerous because she does!!
