Complete Freedom exist in Utopia. Everyone takes responsibility for themselves there. Everyone lives in love and shows compassion for each other. Everyone has healthy egos and there is no need for control.
"The one true Freedom that cannot be taken away is the Freedom to choose your own attitude in any given situation."
In reality the change we want to see in the world begins with each of us. Let it begin with me!
“Love comes to those who still hope even though they've been disappointed, to those who still believe even though they've been betrayed, to those who still love even though they've been hurt before.”
And though it all... I have even more passion and compassion and I believe in love.
"The Impossible Dream" from MAN OF LA MANCHA (1972)
To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far
To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march into Hell For a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star
Judging people by appearance is just as shallow as judging them by color or race in my opinion. And I rated you a 10 on substance Joel right before I disabled it. There is so much more to a man or a woman than a nice pic. When I look in the mirrow I think about what I can change to make me a better person, that's where it all begins. And I have a 13 year old daughter and I teach her, you spend more time with yourself than anyone else so when you look in the mirrow know that you have done your best and been true to yourself. She is an intelligent girl who detest prejudice and is not shallow at all. She makes me proud.
I started this thread because of a political war that was going on in the forums at the time and it was fun and relaxing and I will still puff for peace. feeling happy! still smiling
Hank, I always enjoy your input. This is so true, it is an individual process. Actually, that is one of the slogans of the program...Awareness, Acceptance, Action. In the group I facilitate, we keep the focus on ourselves and speak of our own experience. I often speak of the importance of acceptance to me. If others learn anything from me, I feel happy for them but not responsible for them. I am responsible for myself but I do realize the importance of acceptance and that life is a gentle teacher and we will repeat our lessons until we accept whatever it is we are resisting. Acceptance is easier when we are gentle and compassionate with ourselves.
“We cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.” ~ Carl Gustav Jung
Yes, that is exactly what it is. I entered this thread because I thought it was asking for ways of self-deception. Codependents are as illusive as the dependents about controlling others, fixing THEM, focusing on THEM, obcessing about THEM and not taking care of themselves.
Really, I have a group for emotionally_abused_ women believe it or not, there are many women who believe they do not have choices. I do believe I have choices.
did I confuse you? It is deception. I had this debate with an intelligent man on here when I first come on about whether love is a choice...I believe it is. He said romantic love is not a choice but if it is not a choice how could a woman ever leave an abusive relationship?
Does anyone know of or can help me find the lyrics to a song called Gravity and I don't know who it is by only that I loved it. I am pretty sure it is new. I heard it at my daughter's dance recital it was for a lyrical. I know some of the words are "If I had you, I wouldn't even want you....gravity keeps pulling us apart."
I think it all comes down to chemistry and in order for me to feel chemistry there needs to be some physical attraction. I want someone with a nice and interesting personality too. If I was only 75% attracted physically and they had a great personality, I could work with that...but if I am only 15% attracted physically adn they had a great personality...we can be friends.
I hust wanted to thank you and your assistand Emma for the good advice you gave me. I listened to your advice and spoke to him quick and straight forward. I think he really appreciates that and likes the idea of having me for a friend...a real and honest friend...not a friend who is leading him on.
