why 2012 why not; you get n your car to go to work; need fuel; go to petrol station to fill up; sign says last day of fuel; the world has finally run out of oil; what now? [fiction or fact if china and india and the us +all countries expand at their present rate no oil by 2012] now what happens is it to late; has mankind finally succeeded in destroying the blue planet ;;;;;;

All the leaders know what to do but they dont know how to get re-elected after they do 'it'.laugh By 2012 they wont need re-election. wink

(In your mind there is, it seems, some connection between running out of oil and the destruction of the planet. Is there?)confused

You are on to something here Homer, without even noticing maybe:

What is the fuel for the intercontinental missiles made of? Could it be that instead of a final destruction we simply disarm them all and make fuel for our vehicles and generators instead?

;)

Don't think the particular year is of a matter, we better push for new technology now in either case. It was 1987 not long ago, so soon it will be 2027 too, and then we can start wondering what to do.

There is good money in a great invention, would be nice if it came from CS laugh

If you information bases on the theory of Mr Campbell - this guy is known as super worrywart and made the same prognoses for the years 1988, 1995 and 1998 before

the answere is already here; and has been all the time; and it costs nothing ; and will not harm the planet ;in fact it may well help the planet; because with no oil the air will become cleaner each day; the answere is the sun itself; the cleanest source of energy;;

this information came out of the g8 talks;and the oil producing countries agreed by 2012 if the present rate of growth is sustained by the new economies of the world oil production and refining; will be uncommercial by 2012 and reserves will run out by the year 2023;

Depletion Midpoint we call that date, the worldwide oil production (flow rate) reaches the maximum. After this date the flow rate goes down, slowly. After this date the oil price will rise higher and higher.
The Depletion Midpoint is expected between 2015 and 2020, depends on demand and on the effiency of production.
Not the best future prospectsblues

Okay, this sounds like a "mens" thread.... but something puzzles me.....all these millions of litres of oil thats been taken out of the earth.... what happens in the empty spaces inside her? Like with the gold, silver, uranium,etc etc.... all displaced over the surface... but the oil is burned... leaving Nothing. Will the earth begin to wobble? explode? implode? Any ideas on that?dunno conversing

Thank you. But then howcome the oceans are rising so rapidly.... supposed to be from the melting ice-caps, ... the extra water, where is it coming from? howcome there`s so much available to fill the earth cavities, and raise the ocean levels.... yet most inland seas have dried up. Ahh, is THAT where the inland seas have gone?... gone to fill up where the oil used to be...? Like the Ural sea?conversing dunno
