I knew that subject line would get your attention wink

I've seen quite a lot of profiles where people state that they are looking for someone who is 'financially secure' or 'career oriented' or some other wording which basically says they are looking for a partner that either has a lot of money or has a capacity to earn a lot of money.

What are you looking for... Love or Money?.... or BOTH?

Well in all honesty you offer me a million dollars or my twin flame/soul mate companion/lover to grow old with...I would pick him any day!

Having said that I have been single for a few years now, have two children, work and can stand on my own two feet so wouldn't necessarily be attracted to a beach bum who is lazy and not makes an effort to work in some way and with some integrity.

I have found the more money one has the more one can spend and sure money is great not denying that and necessary to survive but unless you're whole and centred and happy in yourself, having extra money or a partner with oodles won't necessarily make one happy - sure can be a bonus but not the be all end all.

What about your thoughts bourbon!

Well one is an emotion and one a tangible good. Everyone needs money and everyone needs love, not all of us have a fortunate to have a lot of both.
It is important to me that the person whom i form a relationship is as prepared to work together along with myself, to achieve common goals, whether that be property, investment, or just saving to go away for a holiday together, it is more about working together to achieve common goals. This is more important to me than just one person footing the bill and the other not contributing. In this day and age with the costs of living, both partners really have to be able to work, for one not too is probably likely to cause some form of stress unless children are involved and need to be cared for than that would be a decision between whom would be the caregiver etc.
Would i look at someone who had nothing, if they were prepared to help work towards obtaining some form of security such as a house etc, yes i would. If they werent and they had nothing no probably not, because that is what is important to myself. However, if i walked into a partnership where the other partner had substantially more money than i would also not dream of thinking i was entitled to this, but what we worked for together and built on top of that, well than yes it would be half. Hope this sort of makes sense. As with most things generalising is not a good as we are all individuals and not all of us are devious in the means to obtain money. Some of us are prepared to work for what we have. conversing head banger

My thoughts are that we live in a very economic society and it appears to have influenced how people view a potential partner.

There is an old saying that money can't buy happiness... but I suppose that if acquiring material things makes you happy, then maybe it can.

I was just curious if anyone would actually put their hand up and admit that they were looking for money over love.

My policy will be to tell you whatever you want to hear. I think that's standard policy for politicians. I'll also have a policy to come up with really good excuses for not fulfilling core promises and feable excuses for not fulfilling non-core promisesrolling on the floor laughing

As for answering your question which was asking me to answer my own question.... Are you looking for Love or Money? I'm looking for meither. I'm only here for the forums and I actually put that fact truthfully in my profile.wink

Now it's all purrfectly clear Bourbs - you are seeking neither LOVE nor MONEY as of course you are married to a lovely lady who inherited a fortune and so why leave when you can have both - well how about that!

Oh and Bourbs before you get back on your soap box and preach to the uncoverted that you are single by choice and your profile "says" you are single and not looking....allow me to let you in on a little secret - profiles aren't proven to be true or false so we the viewer can only take your word for it. I worked for a regional daily newspaper for 10 years in editorial and I don't take everything I read as how it really is grin Having said that it could all be gospel angel according to Bourban cool

Just as you indicate on your profile you are not looking for a relationship...too much hard work for the 21st century...I bet my cotton socks lol if the right girly came along you'd make things "work" a bit harder to gain the rewards - just my 2 cents worth - over to you Mr Sunny Coast Bourbon Baby.....

Believe what you want... I really couldn't give a rat's behind.

The gospel according to Bourbon. I like the sound of that. Might have to start a new cult/religion. How does 'The Church of Bourbonology' sound? cool

What's the point of having money if you have no one to share it with. What is happieness to me may not be be the same as everyone. I would give up all of the money in the world for the right person.

A rich and famous man was onced asked, "How much more money would it take to make you happy". His reply was "Just a little bit more".

Give me a nice warm cuddles on a cold night in front of the fire and thats happieness.
