i dont like it much either but then never really had anyone who wanted to do anything special or romantic, 10 years with one and i got 1 plastic rose and a note ten years and he only did it cause we were fighting. if i was with someone that was romantic id prob enjoy it.
I don't like the commmercialism and media/social push that causes those that are attached to prove their devotion and those of us that are single, the anxieties associated with being without a "partner heart"...so...that being said....here is one of numerous accounts as to the history of the day and one of the more appealing ones to my romanticism....
According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure.
And early as it may be for wishes....Happy Valentine's everyone and may your heart be contented...
I totally agree about media hype... I work for a high school and trust me when I say that Valentine's Day with teenagers is all the rage! The front office is filled to the brim with balloons, flowers, candy, bears, you name it... a plethora of red and pink... Enough to make you gag! The girls proudly walk down the hallways with ballons dancing behind them and a smile streched all the way across their face.. Then the other girls with tears in their eyes.. It makes your heart break!
I would hope that we would take advantage of every day to tell our loved ones how special they are to us and not support just one day to giving and showing our love to others...
Hey katine i will be your valentine!!!!!!!!!! i ca send you 100 sticky notes. and as my v day i will do nothing. considering some people think im heartless. i filed for divorce on v day last year. yeah call it bad timing. but it wasnt going to work. so for me unless katine will be my valentine i will do nothing.
This year, better. The past couple valentines days I could care less, I was alone. Now, I have someone (keeping my fingers crossed, lol) who I really like, and hope things continue to go the way they are. We're I guess you could say "talking", but things are going rather well I think.
best of luck to my friends who are searching, or who have found someone.
V-day is always gonna be hard for me now, it'll be 1 year this year that we buried my nephew. It really sucks but I'll prolly go to the cemetary that day. It's never been a very important day any way, so just another day.
Even if you don't have a man/woman in your life right now, I am sure there are people in your life that you are grateful to know. Let it be a happy day.
well my personal opinion on it I just think its another day really and I mean just because you love someone doesn't mean it has to be any different on a given day ya know. I often seem to hate v-day usually when I'm single lol haha which is wow ALOT lol anyways theres my 2 cents...
