I believe:

1.) That one should love thy God with all thy heart and soul

2.) Thy should love thy neighbour as thyself

3.) Unconditional love for mere human beings probably only exists between a parent and a child

4.) We can continue to love somebody other than in 3.) above but we don't have to put up with their behaviour

5.) Marriage imposes conditions - therefore it cannot be unconditional love

Any comments?

cheers

Oiy, but you a very brave man, Rusty, to even mention the G word here! You gonna have all the hornets after you ... so head for the river and take a very long swim.......

I love trouble, so I will answer ....

1. Depends Who or What your God is ....

2. Who is your neighbor? This question was asked of Jesus and his reply was .... that story about the Good Samaritan, which boils down to Whoever is needing your help and assistance.

3. Unconditional love ... is the only sort there is. Anything with conditions is not love.

4. Marriage is a Man-Made Law, designed for the enrichment of the government ... I always go for the Signed Business Partnership Agreement.

Have a great week-end everyone ... the sun is shining, at last, here in CH !!

- as we all know - or should know -

all in life poses conditions in whatever sort of life we are in, we communicate with other people in the society on a daily base - we spent more time with co-workers than with our family - its just that some enjoy doing it nicely and others are less skillful in doing so.. dunno

Story of the Good Samaritan (to clear up Rusty`s confusion).

This guy was minding his own business when he was attacked, beaten up, robbed and left lying on the side of the road. Along came a Leading Citizen of the next town who crossed the road and passed along without glancing at the injured man.
Then along came a Priest of the Church who also crossed over to the other side in order to avoid the inujured man.
Then member of the Elite of one of the churches who did lots of good public deeds for his church and town came along, and he also crossed over to the other side.

Then along came the Samaritan, the lowest form of human life in those times, he tore a strip of his clothing off and used his wine to wipe the blood off the injured man, loaded him onto his donkey, and took him to the next town, and delivered him to a small hotel, asked the proprietor to care for the man, paid him with all the money in his wallet, and promised to call back on his return journey to see if he owed any extra money.

The Samaritan is the man Jesus would have us emulate ... he cared for his "neighbor" ... the man needing his help and who lay in his pathway.

Smoky - thank you for your version, I do know the story, but thanks fot your help if you thought I didn't know. I always help ladies if I find them drunk in the gutter late at night - I have been known to ask an innkeeper for a bucket of water to throw over them to freshen them up so that they can stagger home wet but happy. I am a very kind man........

What Jesus said is in the bible. The rest I worked out for myself, but I could, of course, be wrong!¬

THanks for you comment - to my comment... Ive been waching HUMAN Rights Wach - And Amnesty international for years.. Sad sad story..

I am working in a small part of our musicians Union here in My Country.. And musicians treet all musicians as colleges - no matter where they live.. But sometimes it becomes - a little dangerus too.

Believe WE MUST learn to treat our neighbours better - sometimes..

Had a long chat this evening, with a you girl at sixteen of mixed race living here in my country.. . She wanted to go to Africa and spend some years - just to make things a little better for a few people.. Trying to bring her knowledge to them... Because she thought - if she could do that, a small part of the ugly world could a little better.. Good GIRL.. Wanted just to give something back!

Hey, that's really cool.........

Yesterday FOUR people from the Red Cross helped my mother go to hospital by ambulance for some dental work. They were all volunteers. Three were youngsters: two 'boys' and a 'girl'. It's really great to see young people doing something voluntarilly as we live in such a materialistic society. They even refused letting me or my father give them a little something afterwards to go and buy themselves a soft drink.

I Felt I needed a STRONG drink myself after hearing my mother scream most of the way to hospital and back!

They were really great; it gives me faith in the future when there are such young people who are prepared to give freely of their time without expecting anything in return.

~smiles~

Agreed, in addition;

unconditional love implies that you would like the greatest joy for another, regardless whether it be with you or a third (fourth) party. And, vice versa.

Marriage is an unreasonable and often unsustainable committment. We all change, life changes. Staying with somebody to be faithful to them while being unfaithful to your own inner self/feelings is unfair and demeaning both to you and to your partner who also deserves to be with someone who here and now choses to be with them. It also sets a bad example to children.
